From the Chief Executive Officer:

MEG Promo Drop Shadow                                         STC Color Photo BMP Converted

I am officially on vacation. I'm looking out my mother's front window at the beautiful bay off Lake Michigan and thinking how lucky I am. This is not only a place I love to be but also a place I enjoy planning to go. Sometimes when I am particularly stressed out I think about this very view and I feel better. Often, when I talk with family caregivers they express a feeling of being trapped or of being without something to look forward to. When I say this I do not mean they are complaining. It is more like a statement of fact. As if there are so few opportunities for them to have "me" time. If you are a caregiver and are feeling this way why not set a date to do something you enjoy. Something simple if that's the best way to start. Some examples of things I enjoy are Lunch with a friend, going to a movie or shoe shopping. Find a way to make it happen by arranging for alternative care for your family member. Call your friend and make a firm plan and then enjoy the anticipation of the upcoming event. I find that having something special to look forward to helps me get through the daily tasks that are not my favorite. Peace of mind is by by definition a place in your mind where you can find peace. I am guessing we all have a place like the view from this window the thought of which gets us through many a difficult day. Conjure yours up and maybe even make a plan to get there. I highly recommend it! Peace.
