From the Chief Executive Officer:

Many changes are a foot for spring. We try to meet the challenges of a changing environment with optimism and joy. Our trip to Tallahassee, unfortunately, did not uncover a great deal of either on the part of the Florida Legislature. It is indeed a difficult year for Florida. Our caregivers showed both in their tenacious efforts and enthusiastic approach to their dialog with policy makers. Our lobbyist, Natalie Kelly continues to remind legislators how important caregiver respite is to our Florida families!

As we move forward we continue to have events to both educate the community about Share the Care and to raise money to forward the mission. Our Mardi Gras extravaganza was a big success with many new faces attending and several thousand dollars raised for the cause. Do not fret, however, you can still participate in our annual golf tournament in May! The biggest event of the year is always the Forum/ Gala so mark your calendars now for the September 8 -10 event to be held this year at the Buena Vista Palace!

Always there for you, the family caregiver, please let us know what we can do to better meet your needs. We will always attempt to respond with optimism. And as always, we wish you and yours, joy!

We are so happy to announce that our 12th Annual Caregiver Forum will be Thursday, September 8th thru Saturday, September 10th at the Buena Vista Palace Hotel & Spa!

Education & Training

Our New UCF Intern: Nick Wilson

Nick Wilson has recently joined the Share the Care family as a UCF intern. Nick is currently attending the University of Central Florida where he is majoring in Social Work and minoring in Aging Studies. He has proved himself to be an asset to our team by assisting the case management team as well as our education and training team. We are proud of our continuing partnership with the University of Central Florida and are happy to assist in the education and training of our future aging professionals.

Thursday, March 24^th

8am-12pm: 4 hour Alzheimer's Disease & Related Disorders Certification Training
5:30pm-6:30pm: Yoga for Family Caregivers

Case Management

Jewish Pavilion Men's Meeting

In an effort to engage more men with the Jewish Pavilion, board member Mark Abramson coordinates Jewish Pavilion Men's Meetings quarterly throughout the year. Topics are designed to appeal to men who want to network and are interested in seniors. Men of all ages participate in JPM2 since every age group interacts with the elderly whether they be grandparents, parents or spouses. The next meeting is slated for Wednesday, May 11th at 11:30 AM at Einstein's Brother's Bagels in Maitland. 441 South Orlando Ave. The couvert is $10. The topic is Communicating with our Elders.
