Happy New Decade!
Another ten years has come and gone. I now understand what my elders were saying when they spoke of time going faster as they got older. 2011 marks a particularly monumental landmark for Share the Care. In 1986, the original funding was provided by the State of Florida, allowing respite services to be provided to family caregivers in Central Florida. That was 25 years ago! If this was a marriage it would be our silver anniversary.
Before 1986, there were no services aimed at supporting caregivers in our community. This reminds me of the (long ago) commercial, "We've come a long way, baby!"
Today Share the Care serves as a model for the nation on how to meet the various needs of family caregivers. How did we succeed? We listened to caregivers and responded to their needs. Services are varied and flexible allowing for the successful support of families regardless of their situations.
We hope that you, our community of friends and family, will help us celebrate this important milestone by continuing to share your needs and concerns. Just like a good marriage, communication is key! Together we will continue to keep families together for another twenty five years.

Caregiver Health & Wellness Challenge
Join fellow caregivers for our Health & Wellness Challenge for the New Year! Space is limited so call Amanda Johnson at (407) 423-5311 today to reserve your spot.
- When: 12 week class meets weekly begining Thursday, January 27th from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm
- Where: Share the Care Caregiver Resource Center, 3822 Edgewater Drive, Orlando, FL 32804
- Cost: 12 Week Class for $39.00
- Registration money is paid out in cash prizes to the winners!

Come enjoy our new Caregiver Resource Center during our weekly Caregiver Coffee Hour! Enjoy coffee in our living room cafe while you chat with other caregivers and read-up on the latest caregiver support materials. Share the Care Support Group
Share the Care Support Group meets every second Friday of the month from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm. The January Support Group will be on Friday, January 14th in the Caregiver Resource Center. |
