Hello Friends and Family of Share the Care!

Welcome to the world of electronic newsletters.  Share the Care has been one of the last to join the fold, but here we are.  This is an opportunity to get the latest and greatest information to you about the goings on at all levels of the organization in the fastest, most efficient way possible.  To make this work, however, we need your help.  We are attempting to get the e mail addresses of all interested parties so we can reach as many people as possible.  If you know of someone who should be on this list that we have missed please let us know.  You can e mail the info to ndixon@helpforcaregivers.org or simply call the office.  Possibly you have family out of the area who may have an interest in Share the Care.  You can give us their e mail addresses as well.  This is a good way to keep family in the caregiving "loop".  As we move forward with the e newsletter, please let us know how it is working for you and we can change or improve it.  For you Facebook users out there, join our Share the Care Friends and Family Group!

Best,

Mary Ellen

Caregiver Resource Center is NOW OPEN

Our mission is to serve caregivers and we are happy to announce the opening of the Caregiver Resource Center.  What is the Caregiver Resource Center?  We are so glad that you asked!

 Share the Care Holiday Closing

Share the Care will be closed the week of December 26th.  All of our centers will be closed so please make arrangements now for care during that week.
Holiday Respite Requests

If you will be needing respite over the holidays this year, NOW is the time to begin preparing for your use of an Assisted Living Facility.  First, you will need to finalize your holiday plans so that you will know the exact dates that you will need the facility.  We recommend that you begin your ALF search by contacting multiple facilities and touring them to find the best fit and availability.  Each ALF has their own processes and procedures so please be prepared to fill out any and all paperwork that they require.  This can be a time consuming process so please afford yourself time to collect and submit to them their required information.  Share the Care, Inc. will need to be notified three weeks before your planned usage of the Assisted Living Facility of your choice.  Respite usage is based on funding availability and is granted on a first come, first served basis.  Caregivers that have not utilized respite this year (since June 2010) will be given preference.

If you have any questions, please contact Case Management Staff at (407) 423-5311.

STC Downtown Orlando Inspires United Way Loaned Executive
Michael McClaffery is a Loaned Executive from MikeLockheed Martin for the 2010 United Way Campaign.  Being a Loaned Executive is a tough job since their main duty is to ask for donations.  How does he do it?  When Michael has a tough day or a cancelled appointment, he visits Share the Care Downtown Orlando to recharge his batteries and his spirit.  He knows that our client Franklin will be there to remind him that his fundraising has a purpose and Franklin is the face of that purpose.

Michael is not new to the United Way.  He has been active in campaigns since 2000.  He began his fundraising in New Mexico and has since retired to Central Florida where he continues to assist in the United Way campaigns.

Keep up the great job Michael - we will be here whenever you need us!
