Dear Pacific Northwest Africa Donor:
As part of its national Mother Africa Campaign to highlight and promote American giving to Africa, the African Women's Development Fund USA (AWDF USA) and its Pacific Northwest Organizing Committee is please to announce the first-ever Pacific Northwest Africa Donors Forum. Open to all, the Forum is on October 25th, 2012 from 1 PM to 8 PM at the Casey Family Program's Seattle headquarters.
The Pacific Northwest has a long established and vibrant network of donors giving to Africa. However, the region's various Africa-focused foundations, diaspora donors and alternative philanthropies are largely fragmented.
The purpose of the Forum is to promote networking, exchange of ideas and mutual support among the region's diverse Africa donors.
The Forum's keynote speaker will be Naomi Tutu. Daughter of Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Ms. Tutu, an acclaimed human rights activist and philanthropist, will speak on The Power of Giving: An African Woman's Vision.
Forum workshops are in development by our Pacific Northwest Planning Committee and a program update is forthcoming soon. The sessions will focus on the particular issues and challenges facing the region's donors to Africa, as well as promising approaches for addressing them. This groundbreaking convening will enhance the sector's development and its impact.
