Greetings, Style Diva!
Welcome to ImagiNess Style's Inaugural Newsletter! We are so excited to have this vehicle to reach out to you with saucy tidbits on honing your personal style. We are all about what works for you and we don't believe in the "cookie cutter" unless you're baking something.
Life is a runway and we need to work it like the highest paid supermodel ~ boldly strutting our style, our way! Neither should we be encumbered by the opinions of others on how we should carry it. Whether tall, not so tall, wide-hipped, slim-hipped, wild afro, smooth tresses; espresso or cafe mocha...I'm doing the doggone thing!
I spent so many years trying to wear trends and make styles that were meant for others work for my beautiful, juicy pear-shaped figure. Why did it take me so long to change? Stylists and salespersons wanted me to look like and dress like someone else. Hairstylists had their own idea of what looked good on me. It was interesting that when I went home and styled it the way I wanted, I got the most compliments. Why, because when something works for you, people see it. However, I do not style to impress others. I am the "Jones" that I am keeping up with! Today, I am here to tell you that I am so ecstatic to look like me. When you know who you are and how you want to express yourself to the world, the hard part is done.
Important note girls: Style is not fashion. Fashion is one layer of your expression. Style comes through in everything you do, from how you tackle a project, interact with people, treat your friends and of course how you wear your hair, makeup, clothes, etc. But the only way we are truly happy is if we are RUNning it our WAY!
I believe in living life to the fullest and I have a lot more of that to do and so do you. So let's get to living it well and with our own style. My feet have no intention of leaving the path to self-improvement and making my mark on the world (however small mine may be), so let's support each other and cheer each other on while we...
Run it our Way!

Slenderizing without dropping a pound

Shoes - High heels in a flesh tone (beige, brown, bronze and taupe) make the legs look longer and very sexy!
"The Girls" - Treat yourself to a professional bra fitting. Eighty percent o f women are wearing the wrong size bra! When the "girls" are properly fitted in a quality bra in the right size, it makes an immediate and noticeable difference in how we look in our clothing. If they are "big girls", this is not optional. Most bra fittings are complimentary. We have recommendations of some places we like. See the "Our Fabulous Faves" section.
Dresses - I have yet to see a wrap dress that not only slimmed, but looks good on everyon e. Knee-length looks great on most figures and heights. Choose dresses with wide natural waist or high-waist with sashes or wide belts (avoid if it pushes out your pooch).
Slimming Undergarment - There is an abundance of body-slimming undergarments that do everythin g from lightly control jiggle to smooth out back rolls, pull in tummies and lifts up those beautiful buns! They're available online and everywhere from Target to fine lingerie shops. Nothing ruins a beautiful outfit more than visible bumps, lumps and too much jiggling.

Forget the Resolution!
Why not a revolution? Girls, I am joining in the Revolution! My women's networking group has jointly decided that resolutions are boring and oh so passe'. It is past time to come out of your comfort zones and make some real noise in this thing called Life. Life - for living! Not merely existing. Not just surviving but thriving. So, I know you want to be more timely, start an exercise regime; start a business and all those goodies. But today, take 30 minutes (yes, that long) and close your eyes and dream BIG! Write it down and read it several times a day! See it! Smell it! Taste it! Feel it! What do you look like? Where does the road take you and who is there when you arrive? And then write down what it will take to get you there. Set goals (short term and long term). Complete your first goal today by taking that 30 minutes and WRITE IT DOWN! Share with us on the Blog at Styletalkin. Our Team is cheering you on! Start your own REVOLUTION! One on one coaching is available. Contact Vanessa at vanessa@imaginesstyle.net or 202-409-4197. |
