Life on the Creek!
We enjoy watching the Belted Kingfisher fishing and patrolling Ayers Creek throughout the year. The Kingfisher is a short stocky bird easily identifiable by their slate blue back, white throat, and distinctive breast band. The Kingfisher has a shaggy crest resembling a mohawk and a large thick bill. The Kingfisher nests in burrows along the creek bank with a tunnel ranging from 1 to 8 feet in length. They vigorously patrol the area protecting their nest and searching for food. The kingfisher's diet consists mainly of the small fish residing in the creek, but they will also eat amphibians, small reptiles, and insects. They can often be seen diving headfirst into the water to catch their prey. Come on out to Ayers Creek and get a close up look at the kingfisher. |

Once in a Blue Moon I'm sure you have heard the expression "once in a blue moon". Well Friday August 31st is a true blue moon. A blue moon is the 2nd full moon occurring during the same month and only happens once every 4 years. This allows us to offer even more full moon paddles in 2012. Please join us for a memorable evening featuring a glorious sunset, spectacular moonrise, and a post paddle bonfire complete with wine, cheese, dessert, and s'mores. The upcoming full moon paddles are scheduled for August 1st, 3rd and 31st, and September 1st.

Explore the Bays from One of Our Satellite Locations. We believe Ayers Creek is one of the most beautiful paddles around, but we also enjoy a little variety in our paddling. If you haven't checked out our sites at Castaways Campground or the Ocean Pines Swim and Racquet Club you should give them a try.
We are proud to partner with both of these organizations to offer you new paddling opportunities. Both areas provide an opportunity for more open water paddling as well as new marsh areas to explore.
We are open at Ocean Pines on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays from noon to 5:00 and at Castaways Campground daily from 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM.
We offer daily and multi-day rentals from both locations with on site delivery to your dock or campsite available. Just give us a call at 443-513-0889 to schedule.
