Top Youth Homes Empowers Foster Families

Greetings!

For many supporters, Youth Homes is an agency that serves youth through residential services. What many do not know is that Youth Homes also serves children throughout the year in our special Foster Families Agency program. FFA provides extensive training and un-paralleled support to current foster families and those considering becoming foster parents.

Jump for Joy

Like all of YH programs, our Foster Family Program is committed to serving the needs of abused and neglected foster children and adolescents by providing comprehensive strength based, family centered and culturally sensitive foster homes that recognize the importance of birth family connections and provide a positive, nurturing family experience - sometimes for the first time in their lives!

We are currently seeking foster parents that are ready to open their hearts to a child in need. Have you ever considered becoming a foster parent? Would you like to know what is involved in this process?

Please call Shay Shaw at 925-260-9210 or Vida Grigaliunas at 925-876-3327 for more information.

Youth Homes Promise Garden Takes Root

Purple CabbageYouth Homes organic garden and job readiness program has taken root. After many months of planning, our residents are finally getting their hands dirty.

If you have ever visited the facilities at East Bay Shelter or Cherry Lane, you were probably impressed with the size of the properties and the available space for planting. (Feel free to contact us if you are interested in a tour). With all this wonderful space, planning began at the end of 2010 with the idea of a gardening work program for our residents. With expertise provided initially by our landscape architect, Sydney Spencer, the project began to take shape.

Now that the Summer is in full swing, you can read more about the exciting updates to this project!  Click here for the full story

The Sleeptrain Mattress for Kids Program

Sleeptrain Logo

For the past several months, Youth Homes has been the recipient of The Sleeptrain Mattress for Kids Program. Through this wonderful program, Sleeptrain donates brand new twin and full sized mattress sets to foster kids.

 Dreaming

For many of the youth we serve, receiving a brand new bed is a fantastic blessing and because of Sleeptrain's generous support Youth Homes has been able to meet this need. In a thank you letter one of our female residents wrote "thank you for the comfy new beds! We love them and sleep better now!"

Sleeptrain is an avid supporter of Foster Youth nationwide providing campaigns and programs to support the needs of foster kids and youth.

Thank you Sleeptrain!

Dear supporters,

As you can see, we are retooling our program elements to greatly emphasize the need for employment skills that make our foster care youth graduates "job ready." Your support is what makes this possible and we could not do it without you.

Regards,
