Greetings!
What better time of year than spring for Youth Homes to celebrate hope? Each year the Youth Homes Auxiliary, Youth Homes staff and board members, Aftercare - alumni, resident youth and even some foster families come together to acknowledge and encourage one another as well as share in our many successes. Traditionally this event was coined "The Youth Homes Pantry Shower" and has always been a time to stock each household with much needed pantry items.
Today, this wonderful tradition lives on and has evolved into a beautiful tribute to all those dedicated to serving our cause and a time to allow our youth to shine on stage spotlighting their gifts and talents. This year's luncheon and event included a three-part play with solos, poetry readings and even a choreographed dance number! One of our male residents shared his talent by singing a gospel song acapella that was fitting with the theme of the day as he gave his thanks for all he has been given.
We at Youth Homes also give thanks for the wonderful staff and volunteers we have been so blessed with.

Keller Williams Gives Back on RED Day
RED Day (Renew, Energize and Donate) is Keller Williams Realty's national day of service held on the second Thursday of May each year. This year on May 12th, Youth Homes' was thrilled to have our residential facility Anderson house be chosen as a beneficiary of this amazing work day by KW East Bay. More than 112 volunteers accumulated over 1,000 hours as they participated in an overwhelming show of support that raised upwards of $40,000! This included time and materials from local businesses as well as generous donations from donors.
As you will see by watching this amazing video, the work that was accomplished included; landscaping, painting, cleaning, redecorating, plumbing, new flooring, HVAC installation, new toilets, light fixtures, general repairs, upgrades and much more!
The youth that reside in Anderson house were thrilled that the place they call home received such a wonderful make-over.
Youth Homes is very proud to have such amazing community partners step in to help us close the gap between government funding and the actual cost of care for our foster children and youth.
Thank you again to all those that participated in this project. |

Morgan Stanley Celebrates Global Volunteer Month
On Saturday June 18th, more than 10 Morgan Stanley employees joined together to volunteer at the Youth Homes East Bay Shelter in an effort to help clean up, paint and refurbish the well-used facility. Commenting on the motivation behind the generous work day, volunteer Jory Sandusky stated, "Morgan Stanley is passionate about community service and getting our people out in the communities we live in to promote positive change."
During the day, Morgan Stanley staff worked on a variety of projects from cleaning and re-painting the whole kitchen, fixing broken light fixtures, to laying mulch out around the front yard, and fixing a broken fence post between East Bay Shelter and a neighbor's house. Touchup painting was done around door jams, as well as over the front entrance to the facility. Power washing was also done around the front entrance and walkway, clearing out old debris and weeds from the area.

Overall, all the volunteers worked diligently to brighten up the whole space and give a loving touch to the lives of children who have often suffered immense trauma and abuse.
Youth Homes is especially grateful for all the wonderful hard work that was contributed and knows that the kids will benefit from all the upgrades and improvements. |
