Due to poor health in general and a severe reaction to her Heartworm treatment, Elizabeth's life now hangs in the balance.  (Please pray for her right now as you're reading this.)

The Heartworm treatment medication Elizabeth received in late April has caused a rare negative turn of events that is similar to the way medications or stress can trigger Rhumatoid Arthritis in people.  However, her condition does not affect her joints.  It affects her blood cells.  The medication has basically caused her own body to start killing her red blood cells.

As if this isn't bad enough, the condition is also causing severe blood clotting issues.  All of this on top of her body trying to deal with dying Heartworms.

Her vet is treating her with steroids to help reverse her body killing it's own cells.  As things spiralled downhill yesterday, Dr. Melissa called to tell us she needed blood plasma quickly and the they didnt have any!  Doris Smith, one of our trusted volunteers dropped everything and rushed the 80 miles to obtain the only available plasma and get it to Elizabeth STAT.

These are both conditions that without aggressive, expensive treatment will quickly spiral out of control.  The estimated cost of Elizabeth's entire hospitalization with all her treatments is expected to reach over $2,000.00!  We intend to go to all lenghts to save her.  Will you help us help her by donating now?  Click here to donate and link together in prayer.

It is pitiful to watch her labor for breath, knowing that dying Heartworms are cutting loose in her blood stream and heart, and that her own body is fighting against it's own efforts to survive! Yet her eyes beg us to help her.

Elizabeth gets plasma
Dr. Melissa sets up the blood plasma.  Vet Tech Lanie (who has fallen in love with Elizabeth), gives comfort while assisting.  Her eyes are a little more shiney than usual.

This morning Elizabeth's condition was worse and a whole blood transfusion was being considered.  But with her overall condition, she could have an adverse reaction to a whole blood transfusion too.

Elizabeth has SO much to cope with all at once!  A poor immune system, poor health, genetic predisposition to these conditions, recent surgery, recent Heartworm treatment, Low red blood cell and platelet count, and adverse reactions to treatments.  This is a surely a case for God's amazing intervention.  Again, please pray now for this sweet, sweet girl.
