Sad news about Bradford

Update Correction, Bradford:

I wanted to tell you personally.  Bradford left us Sunday.  Bobbie called me from the vet's office and said Bradford"s hernia is very large and there were fistulas which were draining and deeply infected.

I asked about surgery and she said Dr. Lee said recovery would never be complete, he would have no quality of life and would always have pain and infection.  With rectal infection, it can be toxic.  She reminded me that Dr Lee does not give up easily and would not advise this if Bradford had a chance.  He said the humane thing to do was to let him go.

Anna and I would have liked to be there for him, but he didn't know us well like he did Bobbie and the vet staff.  Bradford and Bobbie had bonded and he loved her.  So she held him and talked to him and she said his passing was very peaceful.

I'm glad we had him for that one week.  I'm glad his last days were filled with love, and not alone and suffering agony in the woods.  Perhaps that was the answer to our prayers for him.  I was crying Sunday, but now my prayer is a prayer of gratitude that God allowed us (you all, the vet staff, and Angel Dog) to help him through his last days, bringing some degree of relief and loving kindness.

Here's a picture of his face the day he came to us.  He should be remembered this way.

Thank You!  It is because of YOU, the donors and fundraisers, that Bradford, Spike (and all the others) are able to receive the medical treatment they need. The stories of these two most recent Angel Dog intakes just emphasizes that what you do really does make a difference.

Foster parents, without you, we could not admit them at all.

We want to say a BIG, BIG "THANK YOU" to our donors and fosters who are the first line Triage people rescuing dogs with us.

And a special thanks to our volunteers, supporters and rescue Veterinarians who do so much to help in so many ways.

I know it seems like we are always talking about being in crisis. That's because It's true. It's the way animals are treated in this area. Sometimes it's just much worse than usual. This is such a time. There are so many of you who understand that and you just faithfully keep on helping.

It just seemed like a good time to say how much we appreciate your loyalty from the bottom of our hearts!
