Sweet Bradford,

so sick, so much pain, so brave

Bradford top view

His life hangs in the  balance as the vet continues to treat him.

Dear Friends of Angel Dog,

I write to you today with an urgent request to help us help Bradford.  Please pray now for his healing.  Then, reach into your pocketbook and make a donation.

Can you look at him and say no?

You see, for over two months now, we have been desperately trying to save him from certain death in the woods.  Well, he finally came out of the woods to us for help.  We could not believe our eyes.  He is even more severely emaciated than he was before, has liquid diarrhea, a huge raw sore on his anus.  He could not even squat to deficate, it was so excruciatingly painful for him.

Yet he is so brave and I am in awe of him.  I could tell how bad the pain was when I barely touched his tail to look.  He flinched away, but I saw enough to scare me . . . . it was not ony raw, but a very strange color.  To look at just his soulful, kind eyes and his hopeful expression, you would not know anything is wrong.  What made such an impression on us was, knowing he is SO sick and is such severe pain, he is still brave, hopeful and very loving.  What a noble spirit!  What a special soul!

At the Vet:  We rushed him to the vet Sunday morning.  When they had to perform a fecal exam, he screamed in pain.  Anna, in tears, had to go outside.

The vet said he is loaded with Hookworms, Whipworms, and  Roundworms. He is severly anemic and dehydrated.  He tested positive for Heartworms as well.  The painful, raw knot on his anus is a hernia and they are testing this for cancer.  He will be staying at the vet hospital, and they are trying to pull him through this critical period, then see if he can have any quality of life.   At this time, his life hangs in the balance because of the severity of the worm infestation.  The vet emphasized "This is not going to be a bargain basement case; he is going to be a top dollar dog, even with your discount."

(As most of you already know, we're deeply in debt with one of our vets, and we have several other dogs in treatment now with major medical issues (like little Spike with his eye surgery and Heartworm treatment).  And there are pregnant or nursing mothers under sheds or in the woods, waiting for our help (like Punkin with the hole through her face and feeding 5 babies).

Taking all that into consideration, we couldn't look into Bradford's eyes, seeing his frail body so weak he can barely move, and say no.  We took him in spite of our current financial crisis, trusting that help will come!   He will get all the medical care he needs. So now more than ever our dear friends, Bradord and Angel Dog need your help and your prayers.  Please consider making a donation today for his care, every dollar is so appreciated.
