Founders' Message

Dear  ,

What service can help prevent medication errors, reduce hospital re-admissions, improve health, combat Medicare fraud, facilitate patient-provider communications, and reduce medical expenses?

The exciting news is that we can teach you this service in a convenient, comprehensive webinar series and you can begin offering it to friends, family, and people in your community within five weeks! This service is Health Information Organizing and it is the right service at the right time.

Due to longevity and medical advances, people are living longer with disabilities and chronic medical conditions; in fact, 75 percent of total healthcare spending in the United States in 2007 went towards the treatment of chronic diseases such as diabetes and asthma. (Source: CMS)

The Health Information Organizing series begins live on August 10 and is ideal for home healthcare and companion-care providers, care managers, guardians, family caregivers, patient advocates, senior move managers, professional organizers, elder law professionals, health benefits managers, and persons in related fields.

At Legacies & Lifelines, we believe everyone should have their health information in order. Don't wait. Sign up today to get certified in Health Information Organizing and help save lives!

Sincerely,

Sheryl Hunter, CEO

Discovery: MEDcottage

MEDcottage BuildingWe recently discovered an innovative alternative to nursing homes and assisted living facilities. MEDcottage, a product that facilitates family-managed healthcare, is a portable 12-by-24-foot modular, high-tech medical home that goes on private property, such as in the back yard of a family member.

Its inventor, Rev. Kenneth Dupin of Salem, VA, was inspired to meet the need of aging adults to stay close to their families, caregivers, children, and grandchildren while still being monitored and cared for in a safe and healthy way.

MEDcottage can include motion sensors, a system to transmit vitals, a lift to help a person move, floor lighting to help a person see, and a smart pill dispenser that reminds a patient when he or she must take medicine.

We applaud Rev. Dupin's goal of empowering families to directly participate in their loved ones' recovery, rehabilitation, or extended care. Dupin plans to start selling MEDcottages this fall.
