Needlepoint, Knitting

Greetings!

Spring and summer bring many wonderful things...vacations, summer camps, and, of course, weddings! Well, It's A Stitch had a wedding too! We may be the first needlework/knitting shop to ever host a wedding! Delightful customers of ours from Canada were in need of a notary to officially marry their daughter and son-in-law prior to the big wedding to follow a few days later on Kiawah Island. Their Toronto minister was not licensed here, so our Lee, who is a notary, volunteered her services to make their union legal, so the bride and groom, bride's brother, and both sets of parents arrived with champagne in hand (and delicious red velvet cupcakes) for the happy occasion. We prepared a "thread bouquet" of Planet Earth silk threads and ribbons and hydrangeas from Linda's garden to add a little more color, even though the couple were surrounded by colorful canvases. We wanted to share this happy event with you.

There are so many other things taking place at It's A Stitch. We have had a very busy spring, and July will be jam packed. Margot and Linda will be leaving on June 13 to take part in the Lady Anne Needlework Retreat and Tour in England and Scotland. Sponsored by Phillipa Turnbull and Harry Williamson of The Crewelwork Company in England, they will take classes, tour private collections and stitch in some incredible places. If you visit

Immediately after this trip, Tony Minieri arrives for two Canvas Embellishment classes! Preparing for these classes is always a challenge. When the materials lists arrived, we faced the over-whelming task of gathering and ordering 98 pages of threads, beads, and other items for the kits. There are going to be some truly amazing canvases in these classes. We cannot wait to see what wonderful ideas Tony has created for everyone, and we will share some photos of them in the next newsletter.
