The birds have flown into the shop from Labors of Love Needlepoint. There are so many to see, so please visit their web site to see them all. We have stitch guides created by Tony Minieri for almost all the birds now, which will make them even more unique. The plumage and clip-on attachments come with each canvas, and you can see by the photo of the Christmas bird below, how wonderfully they finish for your tree, or to display all year. Call us to order some of your favorites soon before they fly out with someone else. You can also read about the birds and their creator, JP Sligh in a featured article in the current issue of Needlepoint Now magazine.

Greetings!

We hope you are having a great summer! It has been a very hot one for us, as it has for so many of you in other parts of the country. Those empty beach chairs you see might just be ours! It is simply too hot to use them right now. A much better plan is to find a cool spot, drink a tall glass of ice tea, get out your stitching and knitting projects, and enjoy. Think of cooler temperatures to come, and remember that Christmas will suddenly be upon us and we want to complete those special projects for loved ones in plenty of time to wrap and have a stress free holiday! OK, we can dream, can't we? We all have good intentions, so please remember that our Christmas finishing deadline is September 1 for needlepoint projects!
We have just finished two back to back Canvas Embellishment classes with Tony Minieri. We had 31 students with very interesting and challenging canvases for Tony to bring to life with his creative stitch guides. As always, his entertaining stories kept us laughing while we happily stitched. We thank all who participated and made these classes such a success. Lots of people are already planning on what new designs they will choose for next summer's class.
New canvases, threads, yarns and books are arriving daily. We have added Planet Earth's newest thread, Opal, to our display. Planet Earth is a lustrous one strand silk used on 13-14 count canvas. Opal has a silver lurex thread twisted with the silk for a special sparkle. The good news is that it can be used to stitch on 18 count canvas as well.
Stop in to see what's new. We'd love to see you! Linda, Margot, Jean, Pat, Lee, and Joan

Completed projects from prior Canvas Embellishment Classes
We know you will love seeing some of the fabulous finished canvases from Canvas Embellishment Classes in recent years. Sue Bowers chooses the most interesting whimsical canvases and stitches them beautifully. Here are a few of her Halloween pillows.

Aileen Hatcher has been very busy too. Her Melissa Shirley "Lilluokalani" canvas from the Wild Women series is now complete and it is wonderful. Her bowl of shells from Julie Mar is also well underway, as you can see in the photo of Tony and Aileen.

We love seeing these inspiring canvases. We hope to share some more with you in the coming months.

Margot's Done It Again!
Amazing! Margot has managed to finish yet another of Tony Minieri's fabric collages, "Journeys", based on the designs of Indian textiles. It is framed now, and was ready to be displayed during our recent Canvas Embellishment Classes with the master himself! He thinks the goldwork peacock is gorgeous - we do too! Congratulations on a beautiful piece of needle art Margot.
Congratulations to Jackie Jacobs as well, for finishing Mystere - a Tony Minieri design. Didn't she do a beautiful job?

Needlepoint Classes!
Coming this February 4-7, 2011
Charleston Garden Class with Tony Minieri
Tony has been designing a three-dimensional walled Charleston Garden exclusively for us at It's A Stitch (sketch below). The flowers and shrubs will be ones typically found in the lovely gardens in downtown Charleston. We will also create water features in a novel way. We are accepting reservations for this class now. Space is limited, so please call soon.
July 8 - 11, 2011
Canvas Embellishment with Tony Minieri One of the most popular formats for a class! You choose a canvas, we send it to Tony several months in advance, he creates a stitch and thread guide for it, we kit it, and then you watch your canvas come to life during the four days of class. We continue to take names for this class but space is limited and the list grows daily.
