From our President - Chris Bird
It's been a tough four years. This recession has been brutal for us and for every company in America. That's why it's with great relief and pleasure that I report to you that Dillard Door and Entrance Control is back at our pre-recession level of business. 2011 was a comeback year. And that put us in the strongest position that we've ever been in. We are lean, efficient and focused. While other companies were letting people go - we were hiring new employees with new talents and strengths. This led to efficiencies that allowed us to offer better service and value to our customers. We also focused on new technologies and products that secure our position as a "Complete Security Solutions " provider. By integrating Commercial Doors, Security Camera Systems, Access Control and Gating Systems, our engineering, production and service teams have built a total technology-based security foundation. For you it's a one-stop security solution. Of course none of this was possible without you - our loyal customer. And for that I say "thank you". We hope you'll continue relying on Dillard Door & Entrance Control for all you security needs. And may 2012 be your comeback year.

One of our customer sites - a high level "Homeland Security" facility - needed heavy-duty protection against big vehicles crashing thru their gates. No problem. Our engineers designed a solution, utilizing a Pro Barrier "Arrestor" system. This recently installed system can stop a heavy truck moving at high speed.
The "Arrestor" system is certified by the U.S. State Department to the highest rating for vehicle stopping power - K12. Unlike conventional heavy steel structures, the high tech "Arrestor" system utilizes ultra strong energy absorbing bands firmly anchored inside a lightweight steel shell. The device can span up to 4 lanes of traffic. When not in use, it retracts flush with the roadway, and then flips up into position in less than 2 seconds - triggered either manually or electronically via an interface to an Access Control or RFID system.
Dillard Door installs and services all types of vehicle control systems to meet your needs. From simple gates and barrier arms to heavy-duty devices to "Stop 'em in their tracks", we can provide the solution you require.

Surveillance cameras pay for themselves
Our surveillance camera system - installed at a large packaging facility in Memphis - paid for itself in less than two months. The installation included day/night IP cameras and high resolution vandal-proof dome cameras with 180 degree fish-eye lenses. The cost turned out to be money well-spent.
A month later, the receiving department suspected that a recent delivery had been "shorted", but they needed proof. Fortunately the recorded video for the day and time in question clearly identified the flatbed delivery truck arriving with a lot less product than the manifest specified.
With photographic proof in hand, the supplier admitted the "short" delivery and shipped the remaining material - valued at more than the entire camera system. Here's a sample view from a 180 degree panoramic camera with high resolution. These cameras allow "zooming in" on any portion of the live or recorded image.

Adding to our team - Project Engineer Frederick D. Sexton
George Carruthers, Charles P Ginsburg, John Pemberton, Levi Strauss and Don Wetzel are all inventors of useful things. Carruthers invented the far-ultraviolet camera and spectrograph; Ginsburg developed the first practical videotape recorder, Pemberton invented what we all drink, COCA-COLA; Strauss invented a staple for most, JEANS; and Wetzel invented what we now can't live without, the ATM. We now have our very own inventor, Frederick Sexton, who is one of the developers behind SkyCop - a stand-alone, self-contained surveillance camera system.
Mr. Sexton, who was the Vice President of Manufacturing at ESi Companies Inc.,
is now one of our Installation Project Engineers. He will be working with our Sales and Production department to expand our business into new areas and to help develop marketing materials for current and new product lines. He brings a lot of experience with him, especially in the Security Camera Department.
Before joining Dillard Door & Entrance Control, Mr. Sexton supervised the fabrication and installation of Corrections, Law Enforcement, and Military Projects, amongst other things - and he designed and developed patented Homeland Security products for 5 years. He was with ESi for 23 years, moving up from an Electronic Technician to Vice President of Manufacturing.
Mr. Sexton describes himself as, "A positive, energetic, and reliable professional with many years of experience in Electronic Technologies, Product Design, Development, and Management in a team environment."

Employees of the Year
We recognize and reward our best employees, because we know it encourages them to give their best to our customers. Our Employees of the Year for 2011 were:
Ed Bradberry understands that sales are only the beginning of his job. Ed is involved with his accounts at all levels: development, presentation, sale, deployment and installation - as well as maintenance and servicing. Good communication is one the keys to Ed's success. Ed builds long term relationships with his customers - based on good communication - plus excellent products and service. We at Dillard Door want to thank Ed for all of his hard work over the past 5 years, and we're proud that he is part of the Dillard Door team.

Joe Gillespie - is one of our best all-around techs at Dillard Door, and a great troubleshooter. At customer sites, he's not only very professional and respectful and does what is expected, but he gives the customer a little bit more. Joe is also a great asset to us in other ways - always willing to help others, always encouraging, and a resource that others rely on. And if you've ever met Joe Gillespie, you know he's always in a chipper mood, always positive.
