We prepared, we campaigned, and we celebrated! A fitting end to a month of Partners For Youth (PFY) where we saw $557,295 raised all in support of healthy lifestyles for all.
From the fantastic support of local businesses to our amazing community neighbors and Y members, we sustained a significant effort more than worthy of recognition.
We can now move forward with affordable services that exist for a single purpose; to strengthen the Spokane community. We all have our own jobs and families often inviting unique challenges into our lives. By supporting each other, we can overcome anything and set the stage for generations of youth to develop and succeed.

Please join us for the Y's 8th annual Celebrate Teens event May 8th, at the Lincoln Center's Monroe Ballroom from 4 - 6pm.
High school students and community leaders will get a chance to learn from one another and discuss issues important to today's teens in a casual, fun atmosphere!
We're also mixing it up with performances by talented local musicians, dancers, and the popular Havermale Drummers. Last year's session included representatives from United Way, Spokane Valley Fire Department, numerous local businesses, and many more.
Attendees must be 14 or older and must RSVP by April 27. Refreshments and appetizers will be provided. Attire is business casual.

Please forward all questions to Christine Brischle at cbrischle@ymcaspokane.org or 777.9622 x415.

Having fun and staying active are two sides of the same coin. Team up with the Y Saturday, April 28, from 9:30am* - Noon for our annual Healthy Kids Day. Each YMCA facility will feature a variety of snacks, activities, and education with 'health' as the main theme.

Begin with an hour of Zumba to get the family warmed up then choose from sports for all ages led by First Tee at the North YMCA or Hip Hop classes led by Shock cheerleaders at Central and Valley. For children 6 and younger, Central will hold tumbling classes while Valley will feature the Romp, Stomp and Snack.
Over 400 participated in last year's Healthy Kids Day, so don't miss out on the Y's national initiative to improve the health and well-being of kids. Visit ymcaspokane.org for further details. This event is free and open to everyone.
*Family Zumba begins at 9am at the Central YMCA

Jesse HallJesse Hall, a 25-year-old WSU student from Edmonds, Wash., volunteers for the YMCA's Outside the Box program at North Central High School. He assists high school freshmen in their transition from middle school in an attempt to limit drop-outs. "I started volunteering with the Y looking for a position in exercise or diet-related work, but quickly found my position with Outside the Box rewarding," says Jesse. Jesse finds the level of respect between volunteer and student endearing. He aspires beyond his own agenda, admitting his experiences may lead to more community involvement.
