Partners For Youth Campaign Coming Soon
We exemplify our cause when we strengthen the foundation of the community. The annual Partners for Youth Campaign helps us achieve our goal of supporting and strengthening our neighbors.
Through four short weeks, we hope to change lives by raising enough money to fund our scholarship program for another year. Scholarships make our programs and services available to everyone regardless of ability to pay. We're asking you to "partner" with us to make a difference!
As a cause-driven non-profit, we want to provide children, adults and seniors the possibility of the Y experience. Your contribution can help shape the life of a troubled teen or give a parent a safe place to relax and have fun with their kids.
We will hold three Launch Days Feb. 7 - 9, one for each location. This, and throughout the campaign is a great time to ask questions, learn more, become a volunteer and learn how the YMCA changes lives.

Camp Reed Registration Now Open
Two things usually come to mind when someone mentions YMCA's Camp Reed: fun and more fun! With another year in the books, we're happy to announce open registration for 2012. Sessions regularly sell out, so be sure to find us on the web at CampReed.org or by calling 509 777 9622 to register.
Sessions accommodate youngsters of all ages. Our Traditional Camp reaches kids and teens entering grades 3 - 9, Mini Camp caters to first and second graders and we also offer a Family Camp experience. At Camp Reed, you can enjoy numerous waterfront activities along with archery, crafts, a climbing wall and even horseback riding (only weeks two, three and seven), just to name a few.
Our Counselors in Training (10th graders) and Junior Counselors (11th and 12th graders) embody the leadership, trust and communication needed to serve as camp's vivacious leaders. We are currently accepting applications for these and other staff positions, too.
Don't miss out on Camp Reed in 2012. Register soon and we hope to see you this summer!

TOP FIVE REASONS TO EXERCISE IN THE NEW YEAR
With the New Year upon us, it's one of the best times to begin a lifestyle change. If you're having trouble getting motivated, here are a few things to get your mind, and hopefully your body, jogging.
1. Boost your Mood
Exercise is a natural mood elevator and stress reducer. Regular exercise can help you sleep better and increase your energy level.
2. Boost your Brain
Regular exercise stimulates formation of new brain cells and strengthens connections between existing cells. This can lead to enhanced memory and may delay cognitive impairment and dementia.
3. Stay Well
Regular exercise builds resistance to illnesses like flu and the common cold by strengthening your immune system and keeping you healthy year-round.
4. Live Longer
Exercise is your first line of defense against cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and certain types of colon and breast cancer. You can greatly reduce the risk of acquiring these diseases with exercise.
5. Have Fun
Classes like Hooping, Zumba, Krav Maga, PiYo or an adventurous winter activity like snow shoeing, skiing or ice skating can open up new, challenging interests!
These may seem simple and obvious, but the truest things frequently are. We wish everyone at the Y another safe, productive and healthy year in 2012!
