MESSAGE FROM NANCY FISCHMAN:
The first week of school has come to a close after a smooth and productive week of classes. The classrooms have been prepared and students are learning within a supportive and challenging environment.
As we move into September you are invited to attend our Back to School Curriculum Nights. Each evening we will begin in the Library at 7pm. On Tuesday, I will be available to meet with the 1st grade parents at 6:15 p.m. On Thursday, 8th grade parents will meet at 6:15 to begin fundraising projects for the Washington, DC trip.
Additionally, I am available those evenings to assist parents in accessing "School Yard by Beehively" and as this is how teachers will be contacting the parents in their classes, it is important to register. To begin, click on the "Beehive" on the front page of the school website; enter the email you provided the school. Request a password; when it arrives in your email, you are ready to go!
Sunday, September 9th is our 15th Anniversary Mass and Back to School Picnic. Please plan on arriving by 11:45am as the mass begins at 12:00. We will start our 16th year by coming together as a community to recognize and honor those faculty members and parents who made The Presentation School a reality. Please RSVP to Nancy Bei (935-0122 ext 202) no later than September 4th.
Thank you for the privilege of education your children. Together our students flourish and grow.

IMAGINE EVENT INVITES IN THE MAIL!
RSVP as quick as you can to our fall fundraiser, "Imagine An Evening in The Wild, Wild West." Check your mail this week for the invite, reply envelope and raffle tickets. Many thanks to Mike and Therese Nugent for stepping forward to Chair the event and to Lisa Dierking for taking on the Live Auction, to Alyson Douglas and Jeanine Parlett for taking on the Silent Auction and to Dawn O'Neill for doing the decorations. Each grade is responsible for coming up with a high value Live Auction item and every family is asked to consider whether they might be able to donate (or arrange for the donation of) an item for the Silent Auction. Please contact Nancy Bei or the committee members above to get involved. Many volunteers are needed beforehand and the night of the event. |

ROCK CLIMBING SEASON BEGINS SOON
Presentation School is proud to be one of only a handful of K-8 schools in the country with an integrated climbing curriculum. Our climbing program is designed, staffed and coached by professional climbers (PCI athletes) in partnership with Vertex climbing gym in Santa Rosa and the local Boys and Girls club. Renowned climber Kevin Jorgeson is an active consultant to our program, spending six weeks a year in Sonoma working directly with our climbing team at the team's dedicated satellite bouldering facility across the street. The teams are coached by climber Patrick Smithson, our on-staff climbing coach.
The 2012-2013 climbing season is as follows:
Youth: Grades K - 2 1 hour on Tuesdays from 3:30 - 4:30pm
Intermediate: Grades 3 - 5 1.5 hours on Wednesdays from 3:30 - 5:00pm
Elite: Grades 6 - 8 2 hours on Tuesday from 4:30 - 6:30pm and Thursday from 3:30 - 5:30
Please click here for more information and to register to participate. This climbing experience, by design, is open to the whole family and more information about climbing options for parents is available on the flyer.

The 2012-2013 Student Council Officers are:
President -- Ryan O'Hara, 8th grade
Vice President, Aria Schuler, 7th grade
Treasurer -- Natalie Gulrajani, 7th grade
Secretary -- Alexia Lema, 7th grade
The class officers will be announced early next week. Thank you to Mrs. Faircloth for taking over running the Student Council this year.
