Presentation Graduates Largest Class in School's History Congratulations to the Class of 2012!
The beautiful traditions of the Baccalaureate Mass continue. The photo below is of students from each grade bringing in their class banners at the start of the Mass.
At the communion, each grade brings forward their gifts to the altar, all of which represent different facets of the Presentation School education.
Finally, the school Choir performed...
It was a beautiful Mass enjoyed by all grades. Some prize announcements were made that day which will run in the next eNews as well as photos from the graduation ceremony at school. |

5th Grade Dissects Cow Hearts

Last week, the fifth grade spent the morning in the science lab dissecting cow hearts. Students had the option to dissect, observe the dissections, or complete a written assignment about the heart during the lab (most chose to get right in there and dissect!) They covered themselves in old shirts and used safety goggles and disposable gloves during the dissection. It was a great opportunity for hands-on learning! |

6th Grade Steps in To Save the Day (Art Fair)
Many thanks to the 6th grade who came to the rescue during set up for the art fair. Ms. Steffy and the parent volunteers were somewhat overwhelmed by how many pieces of art we had to hang in a short amount of time, and it was going very slowly, so Tracy Walthard interrupted her Faith class to let her class help us (she said at the time they were studying how to help people who are struggling and in need...and she put that lesson into practice...we were definitely people in need!) It took about 10 minutes for the class to get everything hung (it would have taken hours for the parent volunteers to finish alone), and the kids made it to their art class in time, no less. |

4th Grade Wows with Puppet Shows
The 4th grade recently performed seven different puppet shows, based on classic fairy tales. Pictured is The Fox & The Crow, from Aesop's Fables, with a 4th grade modern twist.

Sixth Grade Chariot Races

Chariot Racing is part of the 6th grade social studies unit and serves as a fun and exciting way for Mrs. Walthard's class to study for their final exam on Ancient Rome. The students learned about Circus Maximus and chariot racing, then created their own chariots for their gen, designing and choosing the colors, and competed at the Circus Maximus quiz off! This class took it to new heights with some of the most energetic team spirit ever! Each correct answer to a quiz question advances them around the arena. The first gen (team) to cross the finish line wins!

2nd Grade Enjoys a Safari (West)
Each year, over 10,000 school children visit Safari West on field trips. Last week, our 2nd graders enjoyed the 400-acre private wildlife preserve and its amazing array of species native to Africa including Giraffes, Rhinos, Cheetahs, and numerous species of birds. The park is also home to species that are considered to be extinct in the wild, ensuring that the species can one day be re-introduced into the wild. The park is one of six accredited private zoos in the United States.
