Presentation Class of 2008 Heads Off To College
2008
Nancy Bei caught up with every one of the 15 graduates from our class of 2008 and are thrilled to report that 100% of them are heading off to a 4-year college (an unusual percentage for Sonoma) and all seem excited and well-prepared for their college careers.

Heading the furthest afield are one graduate heading to Princeton University and another to Boston University. One student is heading to Clemson University in South Carolina and another to the University of British Columbia.

One grad has chosen Texas Christian University and one is going to University of Colorado at Boulder.  Heading up north are students off to Whitman College in Washington State, the University of Oregon and Lewis & Clark (Oregon).

Within California, we have one graduate heading to U.C. Davis, one to Cal Poly at San Luis Obispo, one to Sacramento State and one to Santa Clara University.

Congratulations to all of our former students!  We hope that they will stay in touch and come back to visit us next time they are home!

Get Ready to Be Wowed By the Presentation Art Faire

picasso

Please bring your entire family and join us in celebrating the artistic achievements of our students this Thursday from 5:30pm to 7:30pm in the Activity Center.  In addition to the gorgeous artwork, we will have exciting raffle baskets... the proceeds of which will go to support the art program at Presentation.  Thank you to Mrs. Steffy, Mrs. Brayton and all the Art Docents whose hard work make the Art Faire possible each year.

6th Grade Girls Finish Basketball Season Undefeated!

6th grade girls

Congrats to the entire team and coach Bud McCulligh for a great undefeated season.  We can't wait for the girls to bring home the pennant in the 7th grade league next year!

Catching Up With a Grad:  Daniel Hansen
Dan Hansen
Daniel Hansen, Presentation School class of 2004, will graduate this weekend from Yale University.  Daniel went from Presentation to attend high school at Sonoma Academy.  At Yale, Daniel majored in linguistics and today he is researching endangered languages, specifically their documentation and revitalization, and especially languages in extremely dire situations (few fluent speakers remaining).  After graduation, he will stay on at Yale to work with a professor on research into Australian Aboriginal languages.

 TAW

This week is Teacher Appreciate Week at Presentation.  Teachers will be treated to a lovely luncheon on Friday at the Isbrandtsen home.  Sign-up sheets are posted in the office - please sign up to help serve or to bring a food item.   Let's thank our teachers and teaching assistants for all that they do for our children.

Astounding Marble Mazes in the Art Room

MM

Perhaps the most beloved middle school tradition is the 7th and 8th grade's annual construction of elaborate marble mazes in art class.  While the construction really ends up being cross curricular (art, science, math...), all the kids know is... it is a lot of fun.  The class forms teams and are able to use construction materials of their choosing.   While most lean toward cardboard tubes and boxes... the final products are quite a sight to behold.  Stop by the Art Room to take a look!

Presentation Grad Annie Studdert Honored by Press Democrat as Countywide Athlete of the Year

 Studdert

The Santa Rosa Press Democrat considered candidates from 38 area high schools and last week announced their prestigious Athlete of the Year awards.

Said the PD:  "Many high schoolers dabble in multiple sports, but Annie Studdert of Sonoma Valley was a true two-discipline star. Studdert was one of the best girls soccer players in the area last fall, and she was just as good on the basketball court this winter, making her the perfect pick as the Press Democrat's (large school, girls) Athlete of the Year." Annie was Presentation class of '08 and she is headed to Clemson University on a soccer scholarship.  Read about it here (Annie is center front row above).

Our Book Fair is Over But Many Books Still Sought on Class Wish Lists

Our library initiative is starting with an expansion of our title offerings and ending with the purchase of all new Apple computer.  To that end, we have created an extensive wish list of 50 books for every grade available here:
