Presentation School Welcomes "Storm Chaser"
Casey Family to School
The Sonoma Index Tribune broke the story before we had a chance to but renowned "storm chaser" Sean Casey, his wife Jen and their two daughters recently moved to Sonoma and their daughter Shea is a kindergartner at Presentation. While the Caseys are new to Sonoma, Jen grew up here.
Sean's TV show "Storm Chasers" played for five years on the Discovery Channel. Jen is herself a docu-drama film producer. Read more about Sean and his storm chaser rig in the Sonoma Index Tribune here.
After he finishes his US tour promoting his new IMAX movie Tornado Alley, we hope that Sean will one day bring his 14,000-pound, six-wheel, slab-sided, apocalyptic-looking TIV 2 (Tornado Intercept Vehicle) to school.

Presentation 4-H Students Lead Pack at Pruning Competition
Sonoma Valley 4-H and Sonoma Valley FFA recently competed in the 8th Annual Sonoma County Youth Pruning Contest and Viticulture Challenge at the Santa Rosa Junior College Shone Farm and did extremely well. This was the largest group of contestants so far, 40 youths ranging in age from 9 to 19 years of age, from throughout Sonoma County. Sonoma Valley, coached by Pat Stornetta, brought 15 students, for several this was their first time at the contest.
Each participant was given 1 to 3 very vigorous, growthy Syrah vines to prune depending upon the participant's age, the younger children pruned 1 vine while the older ones pruned 3 vines. They were judged on skill, accuracy of their cut and speed of pruning.
Congrats to 3rd grader Ross Neles, who came in 3rd in the "Under 9 Age" category, 5th grader Annie Neles who came in 3rd place in "Ages 10-11", Presentation grad Eric Clouse who came in 2nd place in "Ages 16-19. There were more than 40 4-H competitors. The other portion of the contest was a Viticulture Challenge testing knowledge of the vine, cultural practices and the industry. Ross placed 4th in "Ages 9 and Under" and Annie placed 2nd in "Ages 10-11."

SCHOOL NEWS:
Hot Lunch:
The March hot lunch menu is available HERE. Thanks to the Student Council, starting in March chocolate milk will be available on Fridays.
Tuition Assistance Deadline:
The priority tuition assistance deadline is past but if you expect to need aid, you may still apply (see school web site for hot link). For questions, or to receive application information, please contact Nancy Waarich-Fischman at 935-0122 or nfischman@presentationschool.com.
Safety First:
In the coming weeks, you will notice several changes that are designed to make our campus safer. During the hours of 9:00 - 2:30, the side parking lot will be coned off. We are asking parents and visitors to park in the front lot and then report to the Office. As Presentation is situated on a large parcel, it is important for faculty and staff to know who is on campus. Thank you for your cooperation.
Winter worries:
It's that time of the year! Be on the look out for those tiny creatures that make our students scratch their heads. If the little critters are found, please contact Mrs. Wallace for information on next steps.
Volunteers Needed: A volunteer is needed to help in the office on Tuesday mornings. Please let Mrs. Wallace know if you can help out!
