Rock Climbing News!
Reel Rock Tour
Returning to Presentation for the 2011-2012 school year is the world class PCI climbing program led by Patrick Smithson and professional climber Kevin Jorgeson! Last year saw the installation and introduction of the sport to the students. This year, Patrick Smithson and Kevin Jorgeson will be guiding Presentation students through a detailed 6-week curriculum designed to develop the physical and mental skills needed to succeed both on the rock and off.

Students will learn proper wall safety and etiquette, proper climbing shoe fitting (thanks to Presentation receiving a fleet of climbing shoes from Mad Rock), basic footwork, climbing hold types, movement strategies, problem solving strategies and experience a trip to the top rope wall at the Boys and Girls Club of Sonoma Valley.

Outside of the physical education curriculum, there are many opportunities for students (and parents!) to experience climbing and hone their skills:

This winter, the "Reel Rock Film Tour" hosted by Kevin Jorgeson will arrive in the Presentation Activity Center! Families will have a chance to meet Kevin, try climbing, get a free signed poster, and enjoy a collection of climbing's most thrilling and entertaining films! The first 10 families to climb across the school wall together will win a free one-month pass to Vertex Climbing Center in Santa Rosa!

In December, there will be an Open Climb at the McDermott Residence and PCI instructors Patrick Smithson and Sarah McKay.

Also, in December, we'll have the Official Presentation Climbing Team Try Outs, open to all.  Selections will be made for the Presentation Climbing Team. 6 dedicated student athletes will practice twice per week and benefit from PCI's world class training curriculum (once on Thursdays and one day at Vertex or the Boys & Girls Club, athlete's choice).

The team will be practicing in earnest beginning in January in preparation for the first annual Sonoma County Youth Bouldering Championships to be held in April.
Celebrate Mexican Fiesta on
Thursday, November 18th at La Casa
La CasaThe entire school community is invited to join the 8th grade and their families for a Mexican Fiesta to benefit the 8th grade trip to Washington, D.C.

Stop by La Casa on the Plaza anytime on the evening of the 18th and an 8th grader will hand you a flyer so that 20% of your meal's cost to go directly to the 8th grade trip fund.  A great meal, a chance to connect with other schools families, all for a good cause!  What's not to like?

You can stop by and take your chances or make a reservation in advance at 996-3406.

 School News:

Here is the NOVEMBER HOT LUNCH FORM.  It is also available on the school web site.

Parents dropping by campus during the day should stop by the office to get a visitor badge.  Presentation is an open and active campus, and for the children's safety, we must know who is on campus.

Please remember that forgotten items and lunches must be brought to the office.  Do not go directly to the classroom.  This will minimize interruptions in the academic program.  Birthday treats also must be brought to the office, preferably in the morning.  We will notify the teacher and determine the most appropriate time to bring them to the classroom.  Again, this will minimize disruptions to the classroom routine and the birthday treats will be scheduled so that they may be enjoyed and your student's special day celebrated.  Thank you for your cooperation.

We are still missing quite a few emergency cards.  It is most IMPORTANT that you turn the cards into the office immediately.

Spirit Squad Update!
Our first home games are on Monday, November 7th. Our goal is to have the activity center full of team spirit to support our 7th and 8th grade boys basketball games that afternoon.
