Day of the Dead Notes from Mrs. Gallagher:
Estimados padres, Día de los Muertos, is a time when families come together to remember and celebrate the lives of loved ones that have passed away. There are many traditions that go along with the celebration such as papel picado, sugar skulls, candelabras, calaca masks, bread of the dead, and more. Students are preparing many of these traditional items in class this week, and in addition, they are preparing a whole school altar dedicated to celebrating the lives of family relatives that have passed away.
If you would like to contribute a picture for the altar, please send it with your child on Monday with his/her name on the back. We will include all pictures on our altar, and share stories about the altar all week. Parents are also invited to come see the Día de los Muertos display in the library on November 2nd from 8:30-1:30. I hope you will join us! Sinceramente, Maestra Gallagher |
Presentation's Math Team Competing at Justin-Siena This Past Weekend Our team, competing for the first time, tied in the first round and won in the second round, but finished short of the points needed to move on to the finals. The students had a great time, however, and promised to return to coach next year's team.

8th Grade Car Wash A Huge Success!
Thank you to everyone who stopped by the 8th Grade Car Wash on Saturday! The kids worked hard, had a blast and raised more than $1,100 in less than four hours!!! A number of grandparents were big supporters and thank you to the Walthards for sending two large pizzas across the street to feed the kids. A huge thanks to Lorin Loughlin and Rand Yazzolino for organizing the car wash! |
Next PA Speaker Series Engagement!
"Understanding Your Child's Brain: The Neuroscience of Learning" on Tuesday, November 15th from 6:30-8:30pm
Presentation's Speaker Series is pleased to announce the next speaker who will be presenting to parents and conducting a professional development workshop for all of our teachers as well.
Pat Wolfe is a former K-12 teacher, county office administrator, and adjunct university professor. Over the past 25 years, as an educational consultant, she has conducted workshops for thousands of administrators, teachers, boards of education and parents in schools and districts throughout the US and in over 50 countries internationally. Her major area of expertise is the application of brain research to educational practice.
Wolfe is the co-author of "Brain Matters: Translating the Research to Classroom Practice", a book written primarily for educators to assist them in understanding brain functioning and to provide examples of how to match teaching practices to how the brain learn best.
She is also the co-author of "Building the Reading Brain, Pre K-3." This book explains the development of the young brain, the acquisition of language as preparation for reading and the nurturing and instruction process from birth to age eight. Also addressed are dyslexia, intervention suggestions for children who have difficulty in mastering the reading process and activities to support phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, comprehension, and the related literacy skills of writing and spelling. Supporting Redwood Food Bank

On the first Wednesday of every month at 7:30am, Presentation families are invited to help assemble food boxes for the Redwood Food Bank. Students help move cases of canned goods and parents usually usually help put items in shopping bags.
Parents and students are encouraged to bring plastic shopping bags and arrive by 7:30am to lend a hand. This effort is organized by PA President Carolina Salmonsen and she meets volunteers at the church at Arnold and Petaluma Ave. |

School News:
Here is the NOVEMBER HOT LUNCH FORM. It is also available on the school web site.
Parents dropping by campus during the day should stop by the office to get a visitor badge. Presentation is an open and active campus, and for the children's safety, we must know who is on campus.
Please remember that forgotten items and lunches must be brought to the office. Do not go directly to the classroom. This will minimize interruptions in the academic program. Birthday treats also must be brought to the office, preferably in the morning. We will notify the teacher and determine the most appropriate time to bring them to the classroom. Again, this will minimize disruptions to the classroom routine and the birthday treats will be scheduled so that they may be enjoyed and your student's special day celebrated. Thank you for your cooperation.
We are still missing quite a few emergency cards. It is most IMPORTANT that you turn the cards into the office immediately.
See's Candy Fundraiser:
See's order forms are due back on Nov. 7th! These candies make great Christmas gifts!
