Greetings!

Please read to the bottom of this email each week for important school announcements!

"Our Town" Nears!
Our Town Poster
Tickets are ON SALE NOW in the school office and on the school web site for $10/each.

Mrs. Miller still needs parent volunteers for the following areas: assistance in coordinating and organizing props and gym set up, construction of a few set and prop pieces, hair and make-up for the performances, distributing posters, ticket sales at the door, concessions, clean-up strike and cast party. If you are able to volunteer for any of these duties please sign-up in the office.

If you work for, or own, a business in town that could display the "Our Town" poster, please stop by the office Monday to get one.

There is also a prop wish list in the office.  Crucial set items needed for the show include wooden chairs, tables and ladders (old seeming).  If you can help with any of these items, please stop by the office.

"Imagine:  An Evening in Havana"
a Huge Success and Fun for All!

Saturday night's Imagine party was a fantastic event.  There was a near sell-out crowd, great food, some enthusiastic dancing and  great bidding for a wide range of very cool silent and live auction items.  We don't have the numbers tabulated yet but event chairs Robin Granko and Katie Sebastiani want to send out a huge thank you to everyone who helped out with the event and everyone who donated, attended and bid.

The big raffle item, the Sorento Imports scooter was won by Dave and Mary Lamonica and they were truly thrilled to hear that they had won.

Before the "Fund a Need" Scholarship Fund bidding took place, a really beautiful video was screened for the audience that honored the Presentation faculty.  The video was put together by local filmmaker Matthew Compton Clark of Open Egg Productions and he did a great job of capturing exactly what it is that makes our teachers so special.
Parking Lot Reminder from Mrs. Fischman
Drop off/Pick up:
parking Lot Safety
Thank you for honoring the drop off/pick up lane in front of school.  By not using this lane for parking and waiting, you allow us to move students safely in and out of cars, and across to the parking areas.  If you want to walk your child to class please park in a "parking space."

For the safety of students, do not speed through the parking lot.  We have many small people on campus who don't always look before crossing.  As adult members of our community, the responsibility for safety of the children belongs to all of us.
Yearbook

Our school yearbook comes about after months of work by 8th grade teacher Natalie Dusak and her team of middle school Yearbook Elective students.  Also necessary for its success, however, is a strong pre-order trend from our school families and support from local businesses.

Pre-order your yearbook (prices go up Nov. 1) by stopping by the office to place your order if you want to charge it to your account.  Also, start thinking about buying a page to honor your child or children or to showcase your local business.

Finally, the best way to ensure that your child is featured in a lot of the candid photos within the yearbook is to submit photos!  You can uplaod photos any day, any time between now and late winter when the yearbook is completed.
Presentation Students Honored by John Hopkins
Flaherty
5th grader Dylan Rooney and 6th grader Catherine Flaherty recently were honored by John Hopkins Center for Talented Youth's gifted program for achieving High Honors on a statewide basis on the SCAT (School and College Ability Test).  This above grade-level test is used by gifted organizations to better assess the knowledge of high acheiving students in grades 2-6.

Both students were invited to attend a ceremony at USF honoring their acheivements.  Catherine is pictured here.  When asked about the SCAT testing, Catherine said "I actually enjoyed it.  I had never taken a test so far above grade level and it was interesting to see what I knew and what I could figure out."

As mentioned in the last eNews, families with students who qualified to participate in the Johns Hopkins program have received an invitation to an optional information session being held at Presentation on Thursday, Nov. 3 and the entire school community is also welcome to attend to learn more.
Cross Country Wrap-Up from Coach Amy
group shot
Short and sweet as our cross country season been, it has come to an end. Our final meet was held yesterday at Sonoma Country Day School. This time around the weather was a bit more cooperative, providing the runners with a mild temperature of 80 degrees and a cool breeze to push them along the course.

The students went into the meet with a stronger sense of confidence given we had run this course for our first meet weeks ago. They were eager and enthusiastic to run! It was great to see each of them run this final meet knowing what a HUGE improvement they had made since first starting cross country in September. Their endurance, stamina and perseverance was incredible to watch grow and develop.

I am so proud of each one of our runners and I hope to see them next year for another season.
