Greetings!
Summer's heating up at Colors!

After months of unseasonably cool weather, Claremont is heating up and so are things at Colors. We have lots of new inventory in store, with more arriving weekly, and new classes starting for every skill level.

Thank you to everyone who participated in last weekend's first Claremont Yarn Crawl -- it was a big success, and based on your feedback we're already looking at dates early next year for another event.

We've increased store hours (see below for details), and are offering more classes than ever. The most current class listing is always posted on our web site, and you are always welcome to call or drop by with questions or ideas for other course offerings.

Also, this quarter we are supporting The Power of Pink -- read on to learn how you can contribute to this great cause.

Upcoming dates for your day planner (details in future newsletters):
  • November 26th, 6-9pm -- Black Friday -- take a break from the malls and visit your friends in the Village!
  • November 27th & December 4th, 10am to 1pm, family photos with the Grinch (and your dog as Max the reindeer)
  • December 3rd, 5-9pm, city tree-lighting at the Depot and holiday party at Colors with cider and ???!
  • December 10th, 5-9pm, in-store workshops with yarn rep

See you at Colors!

Yarn Crawl LogosYarn Crawl a Hit!
Our first Claremont yarn crawl was a big success, and we have you -- our wonderful customers -- to thank for a very fun day.

Winners of the three gift certificates are:

 Suzette White
 Carol Merrylees
Connie Romero

Yarn crawlers started the morning at one of the three sponsoring stores, picked up their passports, and discovered treasures at each location. Every hour, Colors also gave a gift to lucky winners in the store at that time. Cap at Harvard Square Cafe honored completed passports for a free beverage and generous menu discount at the end of the day.

Two most overheard comments: "What a great day out with my friends!" and "Can't wait til the next Claremont crawl."

Feedback was extremely positive, so we'll do it again in mid-February, 2011. Next time, in addition to raffles and tasty treats, each location will feature special events. There will be reps previewing new yarn for spring, spinners spinning, weavers weaving, and Colors will feature Angie Miller teaching kids and adults how to make felt balls. Very fun!

More details as the date approaches.

Knitted pink scarfCause/Charity Knitting

Each quarter, Colors sponsors a cause or a charity and we invite you, our fantastic fiber artists, to participate.

This quarter the cause is "The Power of Pink," a breast cancer awareness and support event. Colors will collect your completed PINK knitted or crocheted SCARVES. For each item you contribute, you may enter your name for an opportunity drawing held at the end of the quarter. Scarves will be donated to local area hospitals for their cancer patients. To make it even easier to support this event, during the month of September, Colors will take 10% off the price of all pink yarn -- just mention this offer at the register.

This event is sponsored every year by our dear friend Joan Bunte, owner of Stamp Your Heart Out, a terrific stamping and craft store located just down the street from us in the Claremont Village.

The final day to contribute scarves is October 10. Please attach to each item a tag including your name, address, phone number and email address.

Also plan to attend The Power of Pink event on October 17, when Pomona Valley Medical Center hosts a party where donated scarves will be presented. Join us and enjoy food, silent auction, door prizes, and the great feeling you get when you've helped those in need.

We'll have additional event details closer to the date.
