Greetings!
With one of our activities coming up the first weekend in July, I didn't want to wait to send out our next Colors Update. Hope everyone is enjoying our incredible weather, and finding time to knit, spin and crochet in parks, on benches, at the beach, on family road trips, or wherever your summer activities take you!

See you at Colors!

Blues & Brews

Blues & Brews logoColors is pleased to be event headquarters for Blues & Brews -- what many are comparing to Vintage Village, Claremont's successful
annual wine walk.

Blues & Brews is a fun way for those familiar with Claremont, and new-commers, to discover new stores and visit old favorites... all while listening to great music and enjoying fine beers, food and non-acoholic beverages in the Claremont Village.

A portion of the proceeds benefit:
  • The American Red Cross (Claremont Chapter)
  • Claremont/West End Auxiliary of Children's Fund
  • Rancho Santa Ana Botanical Garden
  • Shoes the Fit

Lots of us have adult friends and family back in town for Claremont's famous July 4th festivities. This year, you can add Blues & Brews to the list of weekend activities. Here is event info:

Date: July 3, 2010

Time: 5pm - 9pm

Event Location: Claremont Village -- 27 tasting locations and 11 live blues/jazz musical groups, scattered on both sides of Indian Hill.

Launch sites: Shelton Park (across the street from Colors)
                      Train Depot (First and Harvard)
Parking Structure patio (First and Oberlin)

Tickets: $30 in advance, $35 day of event (if availble). Tickets may be purchased at Colors 91711 and several other Village locations (but we're the only ones accepting credit cards)

Get your tickets early -- if this is like the Wine Walk, the event will sell out.
Colors video premiere

Colors, along with 16 other businesses, recently developed a fun video highlighting the Claremont Village.

Each clip is only a few seconds long, and lots of fun to watch. See your favorite stores and restaurants up in lights, and maybe even discover something new?

Colors sponsors Fall weaving classes

In conjunction with Claremont's Park and Recreation Department, Colors is working to help restore a number of floor looms and begin teaching weaving classes at Mallows Park. Pat Hinds and Kathleen Waln are working with us to get missing parts and restore the looms to good working order in fime for classes this fall.

Specfic classes and dates will be offered by Claremont Parks and Rec (and we'll let you know through Colors Update as well). Classes are for those with floor loom weaving experience, and the first one will focus on Shibori weaving and will be taught by Kathleen Waln.

Also, we continue to expand our weaving supplies at Colors -- stop in and take a look.

REMINDER: Order tickets for Stitch and Pitch

Colors email headerTime to RSVP and pre-pay at Colors by July 15 or the event.  We'll order tickets as a group so we can sit together. The annual Stitch and Pitch event is August 6th - check it out at www.stitchnpitch.com.  We think it would be great fun to have a Colors 91711 entourage there knitting or crocheting or spinning or weaving away!

REMINDER: Weaving Challenge!

question markOK, for all our weavers out there, Colors is launching our first weaving challenge. The theme is "Spirit of Freedom" and your challenge is to think about what freedom means to you and figure out how to incorporate that sense into a weaving project. What will it be? All we know is each of you will create something completely different and completely wonderful!

On September 3rd, 2010, Colors will host an event where we share our projects, either finished or photos of work-in-progress.

Join us for refreshments and a chance at three raffel prizes!

Claremont's first ever yarn crawl!
A fiber-lover's delightYarn

Claremont is a great destination for fiber artists. With three yarn stores within a mile of each other, we couldn't resist the urge to sponsor a yarn crawl.

Participating will be our very own Colors 91711, Phebie's Needleart in the Packing House on First Street, and Bourgee Boutique on Foothill. To quench thirsts, and provide a cool place to meet, share stories and have an afternoon snack, we've also arranged for special discounts at Harvard Square Cafe -- across the street from Colors for the end of your day.

Each store has put together special pricing and promotions just for yarn crawl participants, and starting at 2pm, show your yarn crawl passport at Harvard Square for a free iced tea, lemmon aid or soda, and discount on snack or late lunch.

There is not cost to participate, simply 1.) round up several of your fiber art friends, 2.) RSVP to Colors (909.624.6161), Phebie's (909.624.5250) or Bourgee (909.399.9276) so we know how many passports to prepare, and 3.) come to Colors at 10am on Saturday 8/14 to pick up materials and get started!

Event facts:

Date: August 14, 2010

Time: 10am - 2pm

Starting point: Colors 91711, 248 Harvard Avenue, Claremont, CA
