| Tip 1 Caroling Lyrics - free | |
Singing is reading with spices of extra JOY! When the kids were younger, I typed up Christmas Carols and stapled them in construction paper covers. Each child had their own Caroling book while singing through the neighborhood and retirement homes. Their eyes were on every word and smiling eyes were on them, enjoying the special cheer the children brought.
Today there is no typing to do (yay!). Go to www.christmas-carols.net and choose from a collection of 30 FREE Christmas Carol lyrics and print them with the touch of a finger!

Tip 2 Christmas Reading Games - free | |
Christmas themed reading games such as Concentraton, Puzzles, Bingo, Anagrams and Word Match are available in print or to play online at http://www.dltk-holidays.com/xmas/index.html . Word Match, which aids visual memory, gives a percentile on how well you do, so you can improve with added practice. After playing a few rounds myself, I discovered it helps adult memory, too! So, don't limit it to just the children!
Print a number of sheets and make a fun little booklet for the kids over their Christmas break.

There is nothing like a book filled with things that are familar to you when you are a child learning to read. Whether you are a great reader or a struggling one, seeing your name in a book with friends and the town you live in, is exciting and motivational to read! It is what I made for my class each year when I was a Reading Specialist. The positive results I witnessed are why I chose to make Personalized Books. 
Christmas is the perfect time to give one as a gift to the children in your life.
