Tip 1    Double Vowel Rule

Rules can be friends when learning to read, especially when they have cute little rhymes like this:

                    "When 2 vowels go walking,
The first one does the talking!"
                           (most of the time)

In each instance, the first vowel walking says his name...wAit, bOat, mEat.  These are called "long vowels".  Drawing visuals like silly pants walking, is also a way for children to remember this rule that helps decipher words.  Be sure to show some of the exceptions  to the rules, too. (eight, look, lien)

Tip 2   Christmas Activity Fun

Are you looking for engaging Christmas activities for your children this December?  Unity has developed a page for every day of the month, filled with fun puzzles, stories, games and kid friendly recipes.  And it's FREE!

To share an active and meaningful Advent season with children, grandchildren or other special youngsters in your life, click on www.unity.org/childrenschristmas  to download this 37 page booklet.  It will prepare you with something to do with the kids each day of December!

Tip 3   Thank You Note Cards

How fortunate I was to stumble upon this site of 34 darling thank you notes, that are downloadable...FREE!   This will be a money and time saver for YOU...and ME!
Just print the ones you like.

One of our family traditions is to slip a box of thank you cards into each stocking hung by the fire, (ok...Santa does...) so we are fully prepared to send thanks to friends and family who think of us each Christmas.

Now, we just need to go to www.kidprintables.com/thankyounotes/ , print, cut and we are ready to go...even the lines are drawn for us!  Guess you know what's going in our stockings this year...
