Tip 1 Board Game Reading |
Keep reading alive and lively this summer with almost any board game in the house with this twist of a tip!
The game "Sorry" is used in example. Once player has rolled dice and before making a move, he must first read the top word in the "Word" pile. If read correctly, player
advances. Words not read correctly go to the bottom of pile and player does not advance. Keep track of words your child needs to learn, then during family game time slip some reading practice in, too!

What words were being practiced by your child before school was out? Write each word on an index card and file them alphabetically in a small file box.

Small file boxes can be purchased at Office Supply shops and can even be found for "change" at thrift stores. Use these words with "Board Game Reading" in Tip 1 and learn to alphabetize, too! To find a Word List for your child's grade level, google any of the following:
