Alcatraz Invitational
Its not too late to register for the September 8th Alcatraz Swim, but be sure to register by the end of June, as there are only a few slots left. Thus far, we have 12 signed up. We will have a team information meeting on August 11th directly after the Saturday session of the Zone meet at Palo Alto in SA. This will provide lots of tips to making it a successful and enjoyable experience. |

Meet Your Neighbor Week
We are attempting to clean up our billing and email lists this week. Currently our club newsletter is sent to 375 people because many unattached swimmers enjoy hearing what we're up to. We want to make sure everyone in the club is receiving our newsletter. We were able to catch quite a few bounced newsletters and/or missing names, but wish to make sure our mailing lists are correct. This week, please ask the swimmers in your lane, if they received this month's newsletter. If someone wishes to be added, they simply need to email me. |
Olympic Trials Starts this Week
Be sure to be watching, or taping, the trials, as this should be an exciting meet. So, many top names vying for only 2 slots in each event! Cameras will be set up throughout the pool and it will fantastic to view the best swimmers in the world from every angle. |
5 K Postal Swimmers
The 5 K swim will be held on Sunday, July 22nd. Watches and paperwork will be provided. Swims will be held at the Walker (50 m) pool starting at 8:00 am. Plan to bring your own timer.
I have confirmed..Allison L., Suzanne C., Dawn, Alice P., and Chris M. |
Personal Notes
Bill Henrich recently learned that he has myelodysplasia, that will require him to undergo a stem cell transplant, a procedure which, if successful, is curative. He will be spending most of his time in Houston over the next several months and we wish him lots of love, strength and prayers. We KNOW he will be following "Doctor's Orders" and will see him back in the water by the end of the year. |
Team Suit
It screams USA, TEXAS, and MOST all at the same time. It runs true to size, but Speedo does run a little tighter than most brands. (ladies = $60). Men's jammers and briefs ($40) are also available. I over ordered because I know you would change your mind, once you saw them on our Italian ladies. First come, first served on what sizes we have left. Planning ahead for 2013 Pan American Games, we could be the hit of the party! |
MOST Volunteer Services Thank you so much to all that gave of their time or $$$ last month. We collected 14 suits, 4 towels and 10 pairs of goggles that were donated to SAMM kids so that they could take swim lessons. We cleaned up the back entrance to the JCC by weeding, laying down mulch, and clearing out dead trees. Thanks to the efforts of Rafael, we donated $600 to the USA Triathlon High Performance Development Team. |
Monthly Inspiration:

We only go around once. There's really no time to be afraid. So stop. Try something youve never tried.
Teach it. Do it. Risk it. |
