Dear Colleague,
Did you know that the American Association of Justice (trial lawyers) raised $6,019,376 for its Political Action Committee (PAC) in the 2010 cycle? Did you know that orthopedic surgeons, radiologists, and anesthesiologists, for instance, contribute more than cardiologists and that cardiologists rank 9th among medical specialty PACs? For that same period, the ACCPAC raised $1,267,597. This year, only 3.1% of Indiana-ACC members have given to the ACCPAC. I hope that the ACCPAC total will increase with your participation.
ACCPAC is responsible for forging relationships with influential Members of Congress. These relationships are key to the success of our Advocacy efforts.

ACC Document Outlines Impact of Proposed Fee Schedule
| | The ACC has prepared a detailed document outlining the impacts of the proposed 2013 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule and its impacts on cardiology. In particular the document provides information on proposed cuts included in the rule as part of a new transitional care management code, multiple procedure reductions for cardiology and the fourth year phase-in of the PPIS practice expense survey. Other topics addressed include e-prescribing and Physician Quality Reporting System requirements, value-based purchasing, quality and research use reports and Physician Compare. The final rule will be released in late October.
