Horseradish Blues and Other Stories - The CobraHead Newsletter
Hello, Friends of CobraHead,
As the year winds down, we are still enjoying the fruits (and vegetables) of our gardening labor.  Winter and root crops seem to go together.  We share tips on growing one (horseradish) and cooking others (scalloped potatoes and sweet potatoes).  Of course, we can't stop talking about tools and Noel shares his thoughts on garden forks.

Horseradish: The Gift That Keeps on Giving
HorseradishGrowing and preparing your own horseradish is not complicated, but it can bring a tear to your eye.  Noel talks about growing horseradish in the compost pile.

If you garden and you don't own a good garden fork, you are almost certainly working too hard. Why a fork?  Noel has a composed a short treatise on garden forks here.
Scalloped Potatoes with a Sweet Potato Twist
Scalloped Potato and Sweet PotatoGeoff makes excuses to visit Wisconsin just to eat Mom's cooking.  Here is a recipe for another Julia Child inspired dish that makes excellent use of fall harvest vegetables.

If you like our newsletter and our products or if you have some suggestions, we'd love to hear from you.

If you have gardening friends or if you know potential gardeners who might be interested in CobraHead and what we have to say about gardening and eating, please forward this newsletter to them.
It is the mission of CobraHead to help people grow their own food and to provide exceptional products and services to all gardeners.  We try hard to "walk the walk" when it comes to issues of sustainability and in deciding what is best for ourselves and the environment as we grow our little company.  We've chosen to make our tools locally, here in Wisconsin, and we think that bigger is not necessarily better.  Gardening might just be earth's great hope, and in any case it's a great hobby.
Thank you,
Noel, Judy, Geoff and Anneliese

Winter begins on December 21st.  Yeah right!  Here are Anneliese and Noel standing in about a foot of new snow that brought south-central Wisconsin to a standstill on Wednesday.  Tonight we expect temperatures of 2 below zero. Wisconsin's not for everyone.  Geoff, after getting a taste of Austin, Texas, decided he could do without our wonderful winters and has given up his Wisconsin citizenship.
We want to end the year with a thank you to all our friends, customers, and associates who are helping spread the word about the good garden tools we have developed.  2009 was challenging for many reasons, but it was also the year that the resurgence in home gardening became significant.  We are happy to be contributing to that movement.  The best food you can eat is most often what you can grow yourself.
During this busy holiday shipping season, we are doing our best to make sure we ship orders as fast as they are received.  Orders received by 2 PM CST will ship the same day.  Our standard shipping is either USPS or UPS Ground.  If you require guaranteed/expedited delivery, please call us at 866-962-6272.  Our website is not currently set up to handle expedited service.

Happy Holidays from the CobraHead Team!
