Tips for Exercising
 
One of the questions that I am asked frequently is "How do I keep my child entertained throughout class?"  
Here are a few tips:
 
For Newborns:
 
Bring a child carrier (i.e. Ergo, Baby Bjorn Sport) and store it on your stroller or jogger. 
Being snuggled in sometimes helps calm your baby and provides extra resistance for you!
 
Bring a favorite rattle or toy.
 
For Older Babies:
 
Bring small toys or books that they don't normally see at home.  The "novelty" factor works quite well.
 
Offer a variety of food in snack traps.
My daughter enjoys her scrambled eggs from her snack trap on class days.
 
Be sure to have a sippy cup or two of your child's favorite liquid. 
 
Lastly, please know that your instructor is there to help!  Don't hesitate to utilize them to their full potential!

Greetings!

I am so excited to be sending this newsletter to you! As Bo mentioned in her recent newsletter, I am the proud new owner of Baby Boot Camp of Mid Peninsula as of October 1st! 
 
Baby Boot Camp has made such a wonderful impact on my life as a new mom!  I discovered Baby Boot Camp when my daughter was eight weeks old.  I didn't know anyone in the area and all of my family was back east.  I began as a participant and made wonderful friendships.  I owe a huge "THANK YOU" to Bo for mentoring me and giving me the chance not only to become an instructor, but then to buy the franchise that she has worked so hard to build!
 
I am inspired every day by each of you.  Moms juggle everything that life throws at them - the good (sleep...sleep is good), the bad (oh my goodness, my daughter just said what in public), and the ugly (a few diaper incidents are still fresh in my mind)!
 
It's amazing to see the variety of moms at class:
  •  pregnant moms at 37 weeks who are still  participating in class,
  • new moms coming off a sleepless night with a newborn, and
  • moms juggling another full time job outside the home! 
With all of this effort, a great workout is achieved, your bodies bounce back,  mommy blues stay at bay, energy is restored, friendships are made, and laughs are shared.  Does it get any better then this? 
 
Those are just a few of the reasons  why I am so excited to grab the reins, channel my high energy, and build upon the wonderful foundation that Bo has created!
 
 I look forward to seeing you at a class soon!

KICK START CLASS AT REDWOOD CITY!  This class will be free for all - current participants and new moms!  I will be leading the charge and celebrating my new venture with Baby Boot Camp.  There will be raffles and goodies!  Please R.S.V.P. to christy.doyle@babybootcamp.com for this special class.

Halloween Class Party 
Want another excuse to dress up your child in his/her adorable costume? Well, grab those costumes and your workout gear and head to BBC class!  Stay after class for food and festivities!  
 
Recipe of the Month - Vegetable Barley Soup
 
Ingredients:
1 1/2 lbs. ground chuck
1 green bell pepper diced
1/2 cup chopped onions
1 cup each: chopped carrots and celery
2 cups diced tomatoes
2 cups tomato sauce
1/2 cup barley
2 cloves of minced garlic
1 T kosher salt
1 t pepper
6 cups water (for richer broth use 3 cups beef broth & 3 cups water)
1 package Knorr Vegetable or Spring Onion soup mix
 
Brown meat and onions in pan, drain.  In a large stockpot add everything but the Knorr soup mix.  Bring to a boil and simmer for 1 hour.  Add the Knorr soup mix and simmer for another hour.   Enjoy!
 
P.S.  This is a great chance to go crazy with veggies.  Add your favorites ( sauteed mushrooms, green beans, zucchini, etc).

Vegetarians:  Use vegetable broth instead and omit beef.  Don't skimp on the barley or veggies and it will make a hearty meal for the cold nights!

I would just like to take this opportunity to give a special "THANK YOU"  to our instructor extraordinaire, Janae Ghaziani!   Janae is due to give birth at the end of November! She and son, "Super" Syrus, have been out there making moms "BURN THAT BUTTER!"  Yes, that is a patented Janae expression that we all know and love!
 
Thank you for the extra help that you have given me this month!  We can't wait to meet your Baby #2!
I have thoroughly enjoyed meeting so many BBC moms and am looking forward to meeting even more of you in the exciting upcoming months!  Stay tuned for:
