Pre-Kindergarten Screening Equals Peace of Mind
KindergartenIs your child ready for kindergarten?

Or would that additional year in pre-school give your child time to grow and mature?  The Davidson Center can help you in making this important decision that impacts your child's school success in the years to come.

Our pre-K screening assesses the developmental readiness of your child in meeting the academic and social demands of starting school.  A positive and happy experience in kindergarten is the critical first step.

EOG's Don't Have To Be Stressful For Your Child
girl taking a testEOG's are on the horizon and we can help prepare your child.

Fifth grader Madeline is a good student, but mention EOG's to her and her face turns red.   She worries (excessively) that she will not pass but she always does.

John, on the other hand, barely meets the minimum score and last year had to retake the reading test in order to pass.  Madeline experiences test anxiety but John has gaps in his reading comprehension skills.

At The Davidson Center we can help both children with our customized approach in designing the truly individualized programs just for them.  Whether your child needs confidence building or remediation by learning specialists, we can help.
Every child learns differently.  We understand.  We are here to help.

Help Your Child "Maintain & Gain" This Summer
Grades K-2:
Puppet Play Every Day

Dates: June 21 - 25

Time: 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
kid with puppetFee:  $189.00
Kids will be provided with opportunities for self-expression, decision-making, and collaboration as they select, make and use broom puppets, mouth puppets, and rod puppets to explore literary concepts.  Reinforcing story plotline, public speaking skills, and comprehension skills, students will read narrative and expository material and select passages from an area of interest to form a puppet script of their own.

Grades 3-5:

Acting with Sentences: From Mannequin to Motion

Dates: July 12 - 16

Time: 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Freeze ... TagFee:  $189.00
Freeze!  Is it tag?  No!  It's acting to learn and learning to act. In this workshop, young actors will be guided by the words in the sentences they hear and later, write, as they try on new roles and explore experiences different from their own.  Moving from one active, but frozen, mannequin position to another, stories will be revealed physically alongside the sentences shared by narrators. Participants will learn several fun techniques of performing arts as they work on their own verbal and written communication skills.

Grades 6-8:

Improving through Improv

Dates: August 2 - 6

Time: 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Improv ActingFee:  $189.00
"What are you doing?" is a phrase often heard around middle school students, at least in this workshop!  Beginning with exercises such as "What Are You Doing?" in which two participants have to think on their feet to brainstorm new activities for each other to do while continuing their own physical task, students will have many opportunities for critical thinking, becoming attuned to their partner/group members' verbal and non-verbal cues, and practicing quick decision-making.  They will draw upon their 5 senses to recall personal background experiences and tie them into the creation of characters they are portraying.  Students will research and write a script outline around which an improvised scene will be created, rehearsed and formulated into a full script.
