I don't know about you, but I love the Fourth of July! Personally, I'll be sitting by a strategically-placed campfire Sunday evening. Last year we were able to see seven fireworks shows from this vantage point.
If you're up to the challenge, I highly recommend catching the fireworks shows from McAfee Knob. The 270° view will let you see many shows ranging from WV to Lynchburg.

Beyond that, be sure to stop by the ID3 Races taking place each day (7/2-4). They're great fun to watch.

UPCOMING CYCLING EVENTS
Roanoke has some pretty cool road cycling events taking place over the next few weeks that are fun to participate in, but even more fun to watch. So if you have some free time be sure to check these events out..JPG)
July 2 - Mill Mountain Time Trial: Riders are timed as they race UP Mill Mountain. The person with the fastest time wins.
J uly 3-4 - Downtown Criterium: Think NASCAR but with bikes. Cyclists will race their way through the streets of downtown Roanoke, doing lap after lap.
July 9 - Alleghany Gran Fondo: Choose a 30, 66, or 105 mile option for this timed group ride through the scenic Alleghany Highlands. Use promo code "11RoaNOKE10off" for a discount.
July 10 - Saul Raisin's Recovery Ride: This relaxing ride will be led by Saul himself and will feature the spectacular scenery of Douthat State Park on a flatter course. The ride is intended for cyclists of all ability levels. Use promo code "11RoaNOKE10off" for a discount.
July 12 - Roanoke Civic Center Criterium Series: Stop by the Roanoke Civic Center (5:30pm) for some NASCAR cycling. July 12, July 19, and August 2.
