PETE'S PICKS
If you're like me you are constantly checking the weather forecast as the weekend approaches. If you haven't had a chance to check it yet let's just say that you'll want both your winter hat and rain jacket when you venture out.
If you are up to battling the elements I would encourage you to continue your support of the greenways by volunteering a few hours to plant trees at the new Vic Thomas Park (Sat. 11/8). The holes are already dug - you just drop the trees in and fill in the dirt.
If being wet and cold isn't your cup of tea then use this time to plan your next adventure:
Get OUTSIDE!

SHARE THE LOVE - WIN A HAT!
Roanoke Outside just received a shipment of Headsweats hats.
WANT ONE?
Help spread the word about the good things we're doing. Simply update your Facebook status with something witty and outdoor-related, tag "Roanoke Outside" in the post, and we'll choose (at random) 10 people who will walk away with a sweet hat.
If you don't know how to "tag" someone in Facebook here are the steps (click here for more detailed instructions):
- Make sure you "like" or are a "fan" of www.facebook.com/roanokeoutside.
- Go to your profile page and in the "What's on your mind?" box enter your witty message - but don't hit the share button yet.
- At the point in your message where you want to mention/tag "Roanoke Outside" just type "@" followed by "Roanoke Outside".
- At some point you will see a drop down list of friends and pages that match the letters you are typing. When you see "Roanoke Outside" select it. The "@" symbol will disappear and the name "Roanoke Outside" will be linked in your post.
- Finish your message and hit "share".
- Your message will now appear on your wall, as well as the "Roanoke Outside" wall.
- Winners will be selected 11/9.
