If you've never been to the 12th Annual Blue Ridge Kite Festival you don't know what you're missing!  Come see the Richmond Air Force Kite club celebrate the start of spring with a kite flying exhibition (throughout the day).  Kite flying, food, music, vendors, and more.
  • We'll have a Roanoke Outside table set up.  Please stop by - We'd love to meet you!
  • When - Saturday April 17 (10am-4pm)
  • Where - Green Hill Park (Salem)
  • Cost - Free
  • First 1000 children receive a free kite

Bassmasters- Schedule of Events       
There will be food, beer and many family activities at the Parkway Marina (launch and weigh-in site) on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Free Parking and water taxi available between Bernard's Landing and Parkway Marina compliments of Bridgewater Marina. Water shuttle will run: Friday 2-6, Saturday 12-6, and Sunday 12-6.Get Outside newsletter header

Friday:
Live Band For College Night - Pickin Buds (County Bound) Band. Wear your college clothing and show off your college colors. There will also be a Corn Hole Competition and a special tribute to Virginia Tech is planned.

Saturday:
  • Youth Fishing Contest - Fish Like The Pro's Blue Ridge Brawl Youth Tournament
    • FREE For All Children
    • Bring Your Own Fishing Rod, Reel, Bait and Tackle

Earth Day Events       
Get Outside newsletter headerEarth Day Roanoke is hosted this year, in the Grandin Village, Saturday April 17th - all day! The streets of Grandin will be lined with events! Check out the activities from the Roanoke Natural Foods Co-op up to the Post Office and Grandin Gardens where over 30 Environmental and Community Service Groups will have booths to visit. Check out the community Gardens, ponds, rainbarrels, and workshop demonstrations. Walk through the village, or borrow a ShareBike. There will be an outdoor concert 5 - 8 PM beside the Co-op, and is free and open to the public.
