PETE's PICKS
What's my recommendation?
Saturday (March 27) is Clean Valley Day! Clean Valley Day is a time for the community to come together and make Roanoke shine. You may not have thrown the trash there, but if you don't pick it up who will? Just imagine the impact if each person filled just ONE bag of trash. Please consider taking 30 minutes to make your neighborhood, favorite park, or business a cleaner place! Click here for a list of areas teams will be focusing on. Got an idea? School in Bagamoyo, Tanzania. The nonprofit school offers a free
education in a country where only a small percentage of children
receive any schooling at all. The art is cycling-themed and you can bid
on works from artists from Roanoke and way beyond. 10% of all food and
beverage sales goes to the school, too - A big thanks to Blue 5 for their generosity and support of the outdoor industry.

Blue 5 Red Room (basement), corner of 2nd and Kirk.

BACKPACK SOFA - Gear REVIEW
I need one of these for the Gear Junkie
office! As seen today on the GetOutdoors
blog and home-décor site Apartment Therapy, Belgian designers Quinze & Milan have teamed up with
backpack-maker Eastpak to create the "Backpack Sofa." The mash-up design
appears to take Eastpak
fabric, zippers, labels, and straps and tag them onto a cushy big block
of a couch. Now which backpack pocket did I drop that remote control
into?. . .
