Relationships in Harmony Amy L. West Director
Here at CUP we have been busy creating, maintaining and transforming relationships with people, money, and the community. The Couples Experiential workshop with national speaker and author Terry Real was a beautiful example of transformation for many couples. The Financial Health and Recovery workshop with noted speaker, author and educator, Rick Kahler, CFP, was fantastic too. It was a privilege to co-facilitate with Rick and offer an experience that fosters awareness and creates an opportunity for people to develop a harmonic relationship with money. Profound! My 5 year old son was also a teacher of relationship this month. He was a great reminder that relationships often move out of harmony and that there is an opportunity for repair. He highlighted that we have consequences when we are less than nurturing to our loved ones; and, that all feelings are valid, it is what we do with them that gives us the opportunity for connection or disconnection. If you are interested in hearing the story, I invite you to continue reading...My little boy was experiencing some consequences from behavior that was uncontained and resulted in one of his friends feeling emotionally hurt. This little friend claimed that he did not want to be friends with my son anymore, this bothered my son deeply. As a mother, it hurt my heart to see these two little people try to negotiate this disharmony. It brought tears to my eyes to see my son in despair and I felt a warmth and understanding that his little friend did not want to be hurt again. I desired to guide my son and teach him some relationship tools...I am after all a relationship therapist! I offered suggestions that might work for a five year old and learned that they did not. Over a months time, my son and I were able to discuss what this felt like to him and what options might be available to him, including that he may have to say good bye to this friendship. As it turns out, an opportunity presented itself and we encountered his friend face to face. The friend said hi to me and did not say anything to my son. I asked him if we could sit by him and talk for a moment, he agreed. I remarked that it seemed as if he was still angry about what had happened and he affirmed this. He went on to tell me that he was fragile and that he did not like the way he was treated. I certainly could understand this and, he was right, he did deserve to be treated more kindly. Although my son did not have many words, he showed remorse by shedding tears and burying his head in my lap. This display of regret and tenderness must have touched something in his friend because he spontaneously hugged my son.I found tears in my eyes too. I was moved at my son's willingness to be vulnerable in the face of his friend's upset, and, how his friend felt the offering of repair and responded with his own act of kindness. The relationship is now reconnected and the boys are planning their next adventure...they have moved back into harmony. This innocent display of harmony, disharmony and repair was a gift. Here at CUP we wish to support relationships and to facilitate connection. Enjoy the newsletter and I invite you to visit us on our website or join us on Facebook. We look forward to seeing you at CUP soon! Warmly,Amy L. West, Director

The Power of Relating to Your Numbers
Terri Redder Financial Advisor
What is your biggest concern? If you had a magic wand and you could change anything, what would it be? What keeps you up at night? Not your typical financial questions; yet when aligned with the "B" word (budget), income, net worth, retirement, life insurance, etc. is the heart of creating a successful financial strategy. The value lies in aligning the art and the science which is truly about relationships -- relating your numbers with something more meaningful and providing a financial foundation to help achieve the meaningful.I was listening to a motivational speaker today who said it is okay to want. He shared that 95% of children that start school have dreams and when they graduate only 5% do. Why? Children are continuously told "no" or "you can't do that." We grow up believing wanting is bad. I promote moderation and to cover needs first, yet also want to foster dreams. I believe dreams can be a powerful motivator and driving force behind financial discipline to negate instant gratification and unconscious spending. In Jim Rohn's book, "Twelve Pillars" he states: "we must all suffer from one of two pains: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret. The difference is discipline weighs ounces while regret weighs tons."What are your dreams? Can your financial strategy support them? Are you committed to your strategy?
My passion is helping others relate their numbers to their goals by providing customized financial strategies inclusive of retirement, college savings, life insurance, and estate protection. A comprehensive financial strategy takes into account your individual financial temperament - how you feel about money and the special needs, concerns, and desires you have about your money and your future. It may help avoid costly mistakes, protect retirement income, minimize the impact of taxes, and increase net worth. Based on your goals, I tailor a financial strategy for you, recommend ways you may be able to improve your financial outlook, and provide guidance over your lifetime.Your future depends on the choices you make today. I invite you to contact me directly to set up a complimentary time to share. Cell: 616-502-8580 Email: tredder@vantagepointefinancial.comI look forward to hearing from you, Terri

Had I Only Known... The Importance of Sharing Knowledge
Jann A. Jennelle, PT, LMTIntegral Physical Therapy for Women's Health & Wellness
National Breast Cancer Awareness Month celebrates 25 years of "Awareness, Education & Empowerment" this October. We're all well acquainted with the pink ribbon symbol and of the need for early detection of adverse changes in the breast. Our awareness has been developed through positive enculturation. There is power in sharing knowledge intended to help others lead a healthier and happier life. Thus, I feel called to share some professional insight regarding the potential benefits of an integral physical therapy approach for women's health. Oftentimes, during the course of providing women's health care as a physical therapist, I hear female clients comment on how they wish they had known about the availability of an integral approach to address their specific health and wellness concerns. Problems addressed with this approach may include chronic pain, bladder dysfunction, pelvic floor issues, adhesions/surgical scarring - including problematic breast implant/reduction or mastectomy scars, painful intercourse, infertility, headaches/migraines, jaw pain, fibromyalgia, tailbone pain, pregnancy & postpartum postural strain and stability issues, especially following a difficult labor and delivery. The list goes on... A woman's breasts, pelvis and reproductive tract may be subjected to stresses and traumas that create inflammatory responses, infection, pain &/or dysfunction. When these conditions have a neuromuscular, soft tissue or joint component, physical therapy may be indicated. Treatment of a diagnosed condition requires a physician's order, and thus has a medical basis. With an integral approach, I combine gentle hands-on care and mindful movement instruction to help you reclaim a connected, harmonized sense to your whole body - your whole self from the core - with a newfound awareness of what's possible, along with education in self-care skills to help you keep it and freely live it. Understanding our body - how to read its signals and how to effectively address these signals - is important for us to develop so we can proactively support our ongoing needs for health and well-being. And the beauty of it all - as we claim it for ourselves, we can share our insights with others, connecting and relating, as Breast Cancer Network of Strength® refers to as ShareRing. Please feel free to contact me personally by phone at 678.431.7096. In Health, Jann © All rights reserved Guided Motion™, LLC 2010
