Words of Wisdom

Some of you know that I have studied with Terry Real, a nationally recognized relationship therapist.  The other day I was considering some of the relationship wisdom I have learned from him...

1.  Ask for what you want
2.  Speak with love
3.  Listen with generosity and curiosity
4.  Empower each other
5.  Cherish your partner

I also remembered a few words of wisdom from my friend and colleague, Ned F.  Ned invites me to consider the Relationship Golden Rule:  "Ask only for what you are giving." and to remember that Love is a verb.  As I was pondering these amazing invitations, I couldn't help but think about this wisdom in the context of  loving oneself.  In fact, how can we love another in these ways if we do not love our self in this way first?

Sometimes it is so easy to get caught up in our daily to do lists of life that we forget to consider the more quiet wisdom that comes from our heart and our relationships.  As we enjoy the waning days of summer, I invite you to consider yourself and to remember that Love is a verb for oneself and for those who are dearest to us.

We look forward to seeing you at CUP soon!Amy

Warmly,

The Importance of Loving Your Body
Jann JennelleJann A. Jennelle
Healing Arts Practitioner of 27 years

(continued from last month)

Our bodies deserve positive regard and attentive care.  As stated last month, stressful activities of daily living can create strain patterns, postural problems, and physiological imbalances in the body. If left unaddressed, these changes can become significantly problematic, such as developing into pain syndromes.

What keeps us from meeting the needs of our bodies? Indeed many factors. A large factor for many of us is how busy we are throughout our day. However, if we can take a moment to consider the needs of our bodies, we'll often discover the first step is quite simple - taking the time to stop and breathe fully - - while simultaneously bringing to mind an awareness of our full Self in our surroundings. That is, to be still and listen in a quiet expansive space of mind.

This may allow us to take in life and just "be"... letting go of the excess "doing". Spending even just a few minutes each day in a quiet, contemplative state, with attention to full, effortless breathing, can have many positive effects on our sense of well-being and health.

I believe that becoming mindful of the importance of taking time and space to create this harmony in our body is an act of Self-love. As we generate Self-love, those around us will appreciate the quality of presence we offer. Thus, one could consider generating Self-love an important relational tool, well worth developing.

Initially, if you can't justify taking the time to attend to the needs of your body for yourself, perhaps you can do it in the name of serving your relationships with others, until your inner relationship with Self becomes a priority.

I would love the opportunity to support you in learning new ways to care for yourself that can help you establish a sense of well-being in your body and in your daily life. A little support can go a long way. I invite you to contact me by phone at 678.431.7096 or email, jannjennelle@yahoo.com to discuss your needs and how my services may be able to help.
