Lenten Adult Sunday School Options
We will offer three tracks for adults during Lent:

        A) Evolutionary Biology and the Gospel (taught by Russ Murphy).  Since the time of Darwin's work in the 19th Century, tension has been felt and often expressed between scientific knowledge/inquiry of evolution and religious understandings/authority.  While Jesus appears not to have been a practicing neurobiologist, he appears to have understood how we humans think and interact in the world.  The focus of this Lenten series will be to explore the relationship between Jesus's teaching and the way our brains are wired.

       B) Rome to Canterbury, Canterbury to Rome (taught by Jonathan Callison).  This will be a survey of the continuing and complex relationship between Rome and the Anglican Communion.  We will look at the historical background and how that history continues to affect our communal and personal faith journeys today.  This series will provide an opportunity to deepen our understanding of these complex relationships and better understand the similarities and differences of these two traditions.

        C) In addition to the two Adult Lenten studies offered, adults who might enjoy doing a service project during Sunday School Hour are invited to offer some volunteer time in the Food Pantry.  A member of the Pantry Team will be in the Pantry each Sunday during Lent to organize a 45 minute work detail.  You may be re-packaging from bulk items into smaller packets for distribution, you may be organizing food stocks, or you might be helping pre-pack some grocery bags.  If you plan to come for this Service Option, click this link and let us know you are planning to be here.  This starts Sunday, February 26 at 9:30 a.m.

Message from the Children's Choir Director:
The Children's Choir is looking to recruit new singers this spring.  The group is open to anyone from 3rd to 8th grade. The singers meet weekly at 9 am before Sunday school in the music room on the second floor. Everyone is invited regardless of previous musical or singing experience.  This is a great opportunity for the children of the congregation to have a great early experience learning to read music, sing, and become an active part of the St. Paul's worship services in a fun and spirited atmosphere. If you have any questions please feel free to contact Sam Anderson.

Hosting Coffee Hour is a fun and easy way to get to know other parishioners! The host brings the food and the church provides the drinks.  An example of what a host might bring would be: two large pans of brownies (cut very small), maybe a bowl of fruit (oftentimes grapes cut into small clusters), and a bowl or two of pretzels or popcorn.  If you have questions or wish to co-host with another member, please contact :

 Rector finishes his D.Min. degree.

On Wednesday, March 14, I presented myself to my thesis advisors in Sewanee for "examination."  After a few hours of conversation, the advisor's accepted my thesis, provided me with a list of small technical edits and some slight content adjustments they required before the thesis would be printed for the library copies.  They approved my application for the degree and declared I was now the Reverend Doctor R. Stan Runnels.  I want to publicly thank my wife and children for their patience in this extended process and promise Guytie the kitchen table, the dining room table, and the sun room tables will soon be available to her without stacks of books and articles.
