Vision Statement

Our mission is to provide clean water to the entire nation of Liberia and preach the Message of Jesus Christ to those we serve.

We pursue this mission in order to:

1. Challenge other Christian organizations to ultimately create a movement to provide clean water and proclaim the Gospel in other countries around the world.

2. Empower the 20s and 30s generation in America to provide the majority of the finances for this movement, as well as engaging in evangelistic activity in Liberia.

3. Show the world that this generation of American Christians is serious about living out God's purpose for the church to be the agent of change for the world, regardless of the need.

We will raise awareness and funding through a variety of campaigns, providing funding to our partner organizations, who will provide clean water solutions and preach the Gospel in Liberia. A defining fundraising campaign is our Seven Summits Awareness Campaign. A founding team of ten mountaineers has committed to climbing the tallest mountains on each of the seven continents - the Seven Summits - to accomplish the goals above.

Because of these wells, over 10,000 Liberians now have access to clean water!  You can see these new wells on our interactive map at www.thelastwell.org/wells/.

I'm also excited to announce that we have a new core member of the TLW volunteer team - Mark Simpson.  Mark has agreed to become the TLW Web Director!  He'll be in charge of all content on our web site (www.thelastwell.org) as well as developing new ideas for our presence on the web in the coming months.  If you have any creative ideas for improvement to the TLW web site or ways in which we can get our ministry and mission online please contact Mark directly at mark.simpson2@gmail.com.

Finally, we are taking advantage of a fundraising web site called www.crowdrise.com.  The Last Well is a certified 501(c)3, non-profit organization so we are able to raise moneys on this very well-structured site.  Our current project is to raise $10,000 between now and my birthday (August 26, 2011).  The project is called "Two weeks of sacrifice."

You can read all about it at http://www.crowdrise.com/2WeeksofSacrifice/fundraiser/thelastwell.  You can donate directly on this page.  You can become a "team member" and get the word out about the project, and you can create your own fundraising project on our page as well!  PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TO CLICK ON THE LINK AND PRAY ABOUT HOW YOU MIGHT GET INVOLVED!  Please email us at toddhphillips@gmail.com if you decide to become a team member of a current project or if you create your own fundraiser on the site for TLW!

DC Chapter TLW Meeting June 12th!

We're excited to announce that the first DC Chapter TLW meeting will be held at McLean Bible Church on June 12th immediately following the Frontline service at 7pm in Room 1609.

Chapter Director, Zach Casper, will be providing an update on the DC chapter as well as laying out the vision for the remainder of 2011. Key highlights will include updates on Todd Phillips' transition to Dallas, as well as an overview of recent wells and filters that have been installed in Liberia. Zach will also speak briefly about interest for a U.S.-based fundraising climb later this year or in early 2012.

One of the primary goals for the meeting will be creating DC TLW volunteer teams. Opportunities to volunteer with DC TLW will range from helping plan the next Fall Gala, to starting fundraising teams, to assisting DC TLW with promotion.

Please be praying about how you want to get involved. This is also a great opportunity to bring any friends you have that you think might be interested in getting involved with TLW. Spread the word and we look forward to seeing you in June!
