    Vision Statement

Our mission is to provide clean water to the entire nation of Liberia and preach the Message of Jesus Christ to those we serve.

We pursue this mission in order to:

    1. Challenge other Christian organizations to ultimately create a movement to provide clean water and proclaim the Gospel in other countries around the world.

    2. Empower the 20s and 30s generation in America to provide the majority of the finances for this movement, as well as engaging in evangelistic activity in Liberia.

    3. Show the world that this generation of American Christians is serious about living out God's purpose for the church to be the agent of change for the world, regardless of the need.

We will raise awareness and funding through a variety of campaigns, providing funding to our partner organizations, who will provide clean water solutions and preach the Gospel in Liberia. A defining fundraising campaign is our Seven Summits Awareness Campaign. A founding team of ten mountaineers has committed to climbing the tallest mountains on each of the seven continents - the Seven Summits - to accomplish the goals above.

    Dear Last Well Supporter,
Here is the latest update from The Last Well. This year has been an exciting and busy time for us! Thank you for your continued support.
First Annual Gala a Huge Success!

On an autumn evening filled with many friends, delicious food, and a well-supplied silent auction, Todd Phillips - Last Well founder and president - addressed a ballroom overflowing with Last Well supporters. At this inaugural Last Well Gala, Todd's speech centered on keeping our perspective filtered through a global worldview for missions and the potential outpouring of our response as Christians to the dire need for water.

During another part of the evening, we also recognized the team of fundraising climbers that we are sending to the 22,840' Cerro Aconcagua later this year. Ultimately, we gathered to recognize the calling God has blessed The Last Well with to eliminate one need for one nation.

In addition to raising awareness about the need and purpose of the Last Well, the Gala also served as a fundraiser. Because of your faithfulness, we estimate that after your generous donations and the silent auction items that were sold, $42,337 was raised.  In addition we had some monthly donors that will add $200 a month to this number.  Also, remember that we have a matching grant that will match dollar to dollar what we raise, only increasing the impact we will have on Liberia.  This money will help provide clean water to the nation of Liberia as well as help us to share the Gospel with those we serve.

One of the key partnerships for The Last Well is World Hope International.  John Aliison, Director of Church Relations, joined us at the Gala and commented, "As I was sitting among the many people who were in attendance at the Gala, I was struck. At times we can be immobilized by thinking: "I am just one person. What difference can I make?" I wonder how many God size ideas are simply left to die there? Such is not the case with The Last Well. One person. One idea: Give safe water to the country of Liberia. One well at a time. I am grateful Todd Phillips thought differently about what God can accomplish through one person mobilizing the hearts of many. It was nothing short of inspiring to see a group of people working to impact the world for Christ."

First Trip to Liberia Brings TLW to Life

On August 30, 2010 people from Frontline boarded a plane for Monrovia, Liberia. Our mission was simple: minister and witness to people in Last Well communities and get a sense for what God is doing with the Last Well on the ground.

A long-time supporter of the Last Well, when I first heard about the trip to Liberia, I immediately heard the Lord say, Emilee, you're supposed to be on this adventure. While I've been a prayer warrior for the dozens of climbers that have tackled mountains for the Last Well, my personal hope had always been to get on the ground in Liberia and to gain a practical sense for how our efforts with the Last Well are not just providing clean water, but more importantly, how they are spreading the Gospel message of Christ.

Seeing Liberia for the first time is a gift I wish I could share with all of you who have given and prayed for this ministry. It was such a privilege to have my first time in Africa be with an amazing group of people all committed to spreading the Gospel through clean water. In the words of Paul, I encourage you all to continue to pray without ceasing. God is doing big things through this ministry.

    Looking Ahead to Aconcagua

As our next team of climbers prepare to conquer another one of the Seven Summits, we sat down with Last Well veteran Chris Dominick for a Q&A to get some inside perspective on the upcoming trip.

    Q. How are you and the team getting ready to summit Aconcagua?

    A. We are doing a lot.  The first thing we did was have our inaugural Last Well Gala this month which was a rousing success. We still have a lot of prayer support to raise as well as further financial support as individuals in the coming months.  The second thing is we are training our tails off!  This mountain is no joke and we have to be very strong physically, mentally and emotionally both individually and as a team. We will be relying on one another greatly in this.  To this end 7 of us are headed to Colorado this week to attempt to climb "14'ers" on three consecutive days.  We are doing weekly training hikes together as well. Finally we are praying constantly for one another and building friendships as we walk through this process of preparation together.

    Q. What's your fundraising goal for this climb and how did you decide where to set the financial bar for this trip?

    A.
God has really put a big number in my head for this one.  The team goal for the 12 of us is $107,000.  That would be enough to drill as many as 21 wells.  Additionally we have a matching grant for up to $250,000 this year from a private donor so our efforts would be doubled. Our ministry set goal for each climber is $5,000 each however after polling the team to find out what goal God had set on their hearts we ended up at the $107,000 figure.

Hear more about what Chris and the team are doing to get ready for Aconcagua here and stay tuned for more interviews with the team.
