Balance is the title sponsor of the Official Girls on the Run 5K Race
Series, which take place in cities all over North America, including
Austin in 2010!

Looking to donate?
Many girls in our target locations for next year are unable to pay and participate in the program. If you are interested in providing a program scholarship for girls enrolled in the Fall 2009 season, please visit our website and click the DONATE button to make a donation. Scholarship amounts are from $25 to $125. A donation of $250 sponsors one girl for
one year.This amount goes
toward providing trained coaches, the GOTR curriculum, snacks, t-shirts and registration
fees needed to support the program. As part of our mission and commitment to Austin and surrounding
communities, we will bring the Girls on the Run program to all areas in need,
but we need your help.
About Girls on the Run
GOTR is an after-school program that uses the power of running to help prepare pre-teen girls for a lifetime of self-respect, positive choices and healthy living. Over 12 weeks, girls are guided by trained volunteer coaches, and learn about the power of positive self-image. At the end of the semester, in celebration of their achievement, girls along with their families, coaches and volunteers participate in a local 5K race.

Featuring Team Giddens Elementary
Each month we introduce you to some of the girls enrolled in Girls on the Run.
Team Giddens is one of our largest locations with thirty-nine girls enrolled in the program. Not only is seeing all these girls moving forward amazing, but the location is successful due the dedication of the teachers and parents who rotate to make sure enough coaches are there to teach and encourage the girls each week.

Donors can indicate who/what team they want the money to be used for, or it will used to support our eight porgrams currently in operation. The
donation for teams will go toward finisher medals, t-shirts, foam tiaras,
and 5K course signs to encourage them to finish. |

The Girls on the Run of Austin celebration 5K will take place at the Jingle Bell 5k
on Sunday, December 13th! This 5k marks the culmination of the girls 12-week training program as they cross
the finish line and achieve their goal of finishing their first 5K!
