Scholarship amounts are from $25 to $125. A donation of $250 sponsors one girl for
one year.This amount goes
toward providing trained coaches, the GOTR curriculum, snacks, t-shirts and registration
fees needed to support the program. As part of our mission and commitment to Austin and surrounding
communities, we will bring the Girls on the Run program to all areas in need,
but we need your help.
About Girls on the Run
GOTR is an after-school program that uses the power of running to help prepare pre-teen girls for a lifetime of self-respect, positive choices and healthy living. Over 12 weeks, girls are guided by trained volunteer coaches, and learn about the power of positive self-image. At the end of the semester, in celebration of their achievement, girls along with their families, coaches and volunteers participate in a local 5K race.

GIRLS SERVED:
In the spring, summer and fall of 2008, Girls on the Run served 52,056
girls! This represents a 32% increase over the total number of girls
served in 2007. It is over two and a half times the number of girls
that we served in 2006! There is no greater testimony to the
fulfillment of our mission than to see each individual life that has
been touched by our curriculum. On behalf of everyone at Girls on the
Run, I THANK YOU for your commitment and dedication to impact the lives
of more and more girls and women each year.
NUMBER OF COUNCILS:
We currently have 156 councils serving 43 states. In 2005, we had 97
councils; this grew to 135 in 2006 and 149 in 2007. Since 2006, the
strategic focus of Girls on the Run International has been to ensure
quality and sustainability while managing growth. I believe this is
evident in the intentional deceleration of new council growth over the
last two years. Our time and resources have instead been invested into
tools and services for existing councils to ensure their continued
success.
VOLUNTEERS:
We are also impacting the lives of the adults who choose to serve our
organization. Collectively our councils engaged 19,626 volunteers in
2008. This represents a 64% increase over the 11,896 individuals who
gave us their time and talent in 2007.
