Volume 4, Edition 4                                 April 2012

Greetings!

Tomorrow marks the beginning of National Foster Care Month.
In Connecticut, we will be celebrating the service and achievements of our foster parents all month long.  We hope you will be taking part in many of the events scheduled and the trainings offered.

For those of you still traveling the road to licensing - there is no better place to get a feel for the amazing foster/adoptive/kinship care community than the annual CAFAP Conference happening May 18-19th.  Click here to view the conference brochure. And if you have not registered yet, click here to register.

And if you are considering the conference (or even if you are not), be sure to check out Comedy Night on May 17th.  An evening dedicated to all parents everywhere parenting children with special needs.  Comedy Night's humorous focus is appropriate for any parent of a child with special needs so invite a friend to attend with you! The evening will be sure to make you laugh til you cry!

The list of events going on this year is truly impressive.  Our great thanks to CAFAP for gathering all the information and publishing a comprehensive calendar!  Click here to view the May calendar of events.

Parenting a Boy Scout or a Girl Scout?  Be sure to look for our special activity tables at their respective jamborees.  Kids will have an opportunity to participate in our Everyone Needs a Nest initiative.  Contact us for more information if you would like to host a birdhouse painting party for your group - all sorts of groups welcome from birthday parties to mom's groups, youth groups and more.

One of our partners, Family Services of Greater Waterbury, has asked us to appeal to all families parenting children and youth on the Autism Spectrum to consider their invitation to join their focus group concentrating on meeting the needs of this population.  Click here to access their invitation.

Our great thanks to all the amazing, dedicated and loving foster and adoptive parents out there.  Our hats off to the agencies and case workers, aides and administrative staff who support them. This coming month is dedicated to all of you.

Enjoy!
