Greetings families!
Welcome to another edition of the FAM monthly newsletter. This month we feature a sibling group of two in need of a permanent placement in Avon. Please help these boys by passing this newsletter on to anyone who might be able to help find a home for them in Avon. Seasoned foster and adoptive parents and social work staff understand only too well how ardently these boys desire to stay in the community they have grown to love and what a loss this will be to them if we fail in this mission. Let's pool our resources and help locate a family for these deserving children.
Sadly, our recruiter, Alan Murphy, has submitted his resignation. Alan was offered a phenomenal opportunity to teach full-time at a college in Springfield. It was an offer he could not refuse. All of us at FAM wish Alan the very best - he will be sorely missed! Luckily, Alan will continue to work on special projects for us. His current project is a complete overhaul of our website. Once the update is complete, I will send you all an invitation to check it out! Information about the open position appears later in this newsletter for anyone interested in applying.
I encourage you to send submissions for "Our Kids' Corner" from your foster and adopted children. The youngsters who have been "published" thus far have been really excited and proud. It is one of my great pleasures to be able to offer our children an opportunity to creatively express themselves. Poetry, artwork, essays, and letters are all acceptable. Attach the submission to an email or call me (203-706-0101) to work out another submission method.
Our second annual FAMilies Festival, kicking off National Foster Care Month, is right around the corner. Once again we will be inviting families to spend a fun-filled day at Quassy Amusement Park. Ethnic music and food will be featured as well as information on foster care and adoption. Last year over 150 families attended.
Last, our staff is VERY excited about the Mother Daughter Tea coming up in May. Moms, please write this event into your calendars. You won't want to miss this wonderful opportunity to spend quality time with your daughters, have your photos taken, enjoy a fabulous "tea" and amazing desserts, and be pampered in honor of both Mother's Day and National Foster Care Month.
Keep warm,

Avon Family Sought
Please consider passing this request on to families residing in Avon and make these boys' dreams come true! With your help an Avon family CAN be found.
A sibling group of two, these boys, ages, 15, and 13 have been through some significant losses in their young lives. These boys are in need of pre-adoptive home and ideally would need to be placed together. They are actively involved with sports and very connected to the Avon community in which they have been a part of since 2007. Considering the trauma and losses, their strong connection to this town and community has allowed them to begin the healing process. The home in which they are currently residing cannot provide the long-term commitment that these two kids need. They enjoy watching television, playing games, sports, reading, bike riding and playing with friends.
These siblings like to be active and would do best in a family that can meet this need. They are going to need a family who can provide structure and support to help them reach their goals. They will also need a family who will be supportive of them remaining in contact with other members of their biological family.
If you think you are that person or family please contact us at 860-645-7300 and ask for Rikki or Deana for more information or click on the link below.
Remember.....what makes a family is you!!!

Fosterware Parties!
Do you like to have fun? Are you looking for an excuse to hold a party? And have you ever wondered what you could do to help find homes for waiting kids? Consider hosting a Fosterware party. These parties are based on the Tupperware home party concept and not only are they fun but they are designed to provide information to partygoers about ways they can help children in foster care.
FAM presenters come to your home and talk with groups of three or more of your friends and neighbors about our foster care and adoption programs. Our presenter makes a brief presentation and brings literature and goodies for all partygoers. Hosting families are given a gift card to cover the cost of food and drinks.
Please help us find good homes for great kids! We promise you'll have fun and you'll be opening your home and heart for a good cause.
Contact Deb Kelleher at 203-706-0101 or e-mail her to schedule a party.
