Do You have Room in Your Heart and Your Home for Damien ?
Damien is a ten year old Caucasian/African American boy who identifies most strongly with his Irish heritage. His friends call him "DMC". Damien enjoys spending his free time riding his scooter, playing sports (especially basketball), reading comic books, playing video games and watching movies. Damien wants to learn how to ride a two wheel bicycle, and he likes to keep his room clean and to help with chores! Damien would do best with a family with older siblings and two parents. He would also love to have a family pet, especially a cat or dog! Community Residences, Inc., a FAM partner, would support Damien's pre-adoptive family with training, social worker support and other services as needed. If you are interested in learning more about Damien, please call Jennifer Kay at (860) 621-7600 x117 or email jkay@criinc.org.

FAMily BBQ
On June 20, FAM held its first family BBQ and Race Day. The Wake Robin Inn hosted the BBQ on the overcast Saturday before Father's Day. Luckily the rain held off long enough for families to enjoy hot dogs, hamburgers, and salads as well as some spirited games of baseball and football on the lawn. When all of our tummies were full we all headed off to Lime Rock Park for an afternoon of fun watching the auto races and exploring the Lime Rock Park paddock area and shops.
Our newest partner, A.B.C. Excursions and Bus Charters provided bus transport to and from Lime Rock Park. What a treat to sit with friends and chat while the driver and A.B.C. took care of everything! A.B.C. co-owner, and race car driver, Kelly McDougall, signed autographs for everyone as we entered the park. The kids lined up patiently awaiting their turns for photos and signature. Kelly stood in the parking lot for well over an hour signing and smiling. The kids loved it!
Lime Rock Park graciously provided us with an escort, Trevor, for the entire day. Trevor could not have been nicer! He sheparded us around the paddock area where we all met the drivers and kids had an opportunity to sit in cars while drivers explained what all of the gadgets were for.
More photos of this event are available on our website in the News and Events section.
A wonderful day was had by all. We are all counting down the days til next year!

Fosterware Parties!
Have you ever wondered what you could do to help find homes for waiting kids? Consider hosting a Fosterware party. These parties are based on the Tupperware home party concept and are designed to provide information to partygoers about ways they can help.
FAM presenters come to your home and talk with groups of three or more of your friends and neighbors about our foster care and adoption programs. Our presenter makes a brief presentation and brings literature and goodies for all partygoers. Hosting families are given a small stipend to cover the cost of food and drinks.
Please help us find good homes for great kids!

I've been in a foster home since I've been born. Since I have been in foster care I have a good education. I've been passed hand to hand, I've been with people that I do not know, like African American, Mexicans, Jamaican - that language I did not know. When I grew up I went with a foster home that cared about me. She gave me a home when I did not have a good one. She has helped me with my homework and when I did not have someone to talk to, I asked my foster mom if I could talk to her and she said yes, she always told me don't let anybody get you down. I have adopted a dad that cares about me. We laugh together and we joke around sometimes.

Thought for the Month
True compassion is not just an emotional response,
but a firm commitment founded on reason.
Therefore, a truly compassionate attitude toward others does not change,
even if they behave negatively.
Through universal altruism,
you develop a feeling of responsibility for others:
the wish to help them actively overcome their problems.
