remarkable woman. Marguerite Curtis, Dan's first wife who died several years ago, was "tiny, 100 pounds soaking wet," Dan said. "She was brave," he added. "She was always trying to help people who needed help." A former board president of The Home Association, Marguerite wanted to continue helping the residents of the home even after she passed, and Dan created a fund at the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay following her instructions. Last month, the Curtis family joined over 70 people at the Tampa Yacht & Country Club for an annual Legacy Society luncheon, celebrating those donors who have included the Foundation in their estate plans. During the luncheon, attendees watched PostScripts, a video program honoring Legacy Society members who have passed away and highlighting the gifts they've made to area nonprofit agencies.

"Their legacy is not just something they leave behind - it's something they can create while living, too."
